While there are some general rules about which formulas to use, there seem to be many exceptions to each general rule.

I have thin/fine hair and CA works great on my hair. I tried CA even though I had expected it to be too drying on my hair. CA is in my core rotation.

In the end, I think you have slowly work your way through the CCs to figure out what works best for you. What you might want to do is select CA for an upcoming TSV A-D shipment, because it is more cost effective to try it that way. Even if the CA doesn't work for you, you'll still get to use the other items in the TSV.

Best of luck!!

-- bebe

My hair is extremely fine and I have soft natural curls. I thought fig would weigh down my hair and make it flat, but I was SO wrong. Though it is the most moisturizing/thickest formula, my hair feels fuller than ever. Maybe that's just what I needed and the other formulas weren't exactly what my hair required to be it's fullest.

Any other advice concerning other formulas regarding fine, curly hair? I've tried every formula except cucumber and bamboo green tea.

Hi nh,

Welcome to Wen! I started Wenning in September. Fig quickly became my hair's BFF! I use it as a second cleanse after each wash.

I wash twice a week and my curls are 4c. My weekend wash is 613 first and Fig second. My midweek wash is Tea Tree first and Fig second.

I tried BGT last week. I have to give it a few more tries to tell if my hair is benefiting from it.

If your hair requires a lot of moisture, I would avoid Cucumber unless you mix it with the Fig. Cucumber is WEN's most clarifying and astringent formula, therefore it's very drying. I have dry hair, and I only use Cucumber once a week to clarify, but I use it with Fig and 613 to offset the dryness. Also, I wouldn't use it on freshly colored hair because of it's clarifying ability. I found the Bamboo Green Tea to be drying, also, but I think I'm in the minority here. Many people have had wonderful results with it and say it moisturizes their hair, so they would be a better source of advice on that formula.

Hope this was some help to you - good luck and happy Wenning!

Good Morning qtr,

I haven't used BGT alone because some said it was so drying. The two times I used it was as a first cleanse followed by Fig.

When I used it midweek, it firmed my curls, so I think it has a lot of protein. That's why people think it's drying. I loved it for my midweek cleanse!

Over the weekend, I did an extended cleanse for both formulas, as well as an oil treatment with new oils. A lot of "new."

The result: my hair is too soft, my grays are frizzed out, and I have knots on my ends.

There aren't single strand knots, these are huge. For me, this is a sign of protein (shed hairs getting stuck). It's significant because I haven't had SSKs in years.

I have to respectfully disagree with you It's clarifying on the scalp but moisturizing to the hair. My hair is very finicky and needs tons of moisture. Fig and CA are the only 2 CCs I can use with reliably great results I can't even use the "universal" formulas! I either use CA alone as my first cleanse (especially after an oil treatment) or I use it in the first cleanse on my scalp and lengths mixed with Fig on the ends when they feel dry. Normally 2nd cleanse and leave in are both Fig. There are times in the summer or after I've gone longer than usual between cleansing and built up natural oils that I use it alone and love it. It's great for my curly hair and not drying at all!

I do get drying from any of the seasonal formula and 613 (either from the soy or the amino acids, I'm not sure), but I can use 613 sparingly once every few cleanses with good results (possibly from the other added treatment ingredients).

I also have fine, wavy/curly hair. Fig is my go-to. I've tried all other core formulas except Lavender (allergic) and Bamboo Green Tea (waiting to buy until I clear out my stockpile) and none of them work for me on their own. Sweet Almond Mint, Pom, Tea Tree all left my hair dry, more so if I used them alone for several washes. Cucumber Aloe was the worst for me if used alone.

I use Fig for almost every cleanse. I often mix it with Tea Tree and like Tea Tree for my scalp and Fig for my length. If I do that, I follow with Fig alone or with a Seasonal alone. I can use the seasonals alone for a few weeks without getting dry hair, but after a while I have to return to the Fig. Fig is one of my least favorite scents, so I buy everything else in my favorite scents and only use the conditioning cleanser in Fig.

I love fig! It's my go-to formula for moisture!! As much as I love BGT, I agree with HonnyBrown...whatever's in it, IMHO is alot like 613--my hair gets full, light and shiny, but dry..and in with my hair, that's a sign of protein, amino acid or something *other* than moisture going in!lol

For me, I think bamboo and fig are awesome together! Mix, or alternate--they work great! I think together they'd be great for your hairtype!

I just wanted to add to what Bebe said...I know in another forum there's alot of Wen-bashing that goes on--especially about how much work it is to find the 'right' formula, etc... It's the same with shampoo and conditioner...How many shampoos do you have to go through before you find one your hair takes to? I was the Queen of Conditioners before using Wen.lol I'd buy them, use them a couple times and toss them out because they didn't do what I wanted--weren't moisturizing enough, were too heavy, not heavy enough--the list goes on and on. And I was a dumb-bunny who'd buy the giant gallon ones from the salon because they'd use one on me there--my hair would feel great right then--but after a couple of weeks of use, it didn't do a darn thing anymore, so out it would go or I'd gift it to someone who could maybe use it--until she'd regift it to someone else.lol

The nice thing with Wen is that there hasn't been anything where I've used it and gone, OMG what have I done to myself?!!haha These things are so universal and so full of good stuff--I use them as body lotions and facial masks--the list is endless....

Ok, sorry for my OT topic derailment---carry on... haha

But when you do buy that gallon of Fig... it is great. So much nicer with the larger pump. And controlling the amount of CC is easier for me with the gallon pump. My hands are getting older with a touch of arthritis. It's really easy to do a full pump or just a tiny amount for the leave in.

So as not to change the topic - the Fig is best for my dry curly hair, it does not weigh my hair down. I love it and will order two more gallons in June.

I like to use a small amount of 613 with Fig. So far every other CC has dried my hair. This week I plan to try little bit of TT in the first cleanse.

With as much as I need to use for my hair, a 16oz bottle will give me enough for about 4-5 cleansings. I've never used a product before that I had to use so much of/that I would go through so quickly. For me, the results and associated cost are worth it, but it's a totally different type of product and it's understandable that people think he's only saying you need that much of it so he can sell more. He's not, but if I didn't use and love the product I would probably think that too.

And I'm seriously thinking it's time for a gallon of Fig for me
