Bullet-proof? How about allergy-proof?

I've used a variety of foundations that I like, including Mally and Tarte. But when Mally (and others) claim that their makeup is "bullet-proof" and doesn't come off until you wash it off, I just have to laugh. I use it to cover my red nose when I have a cold or allergies, and the first time I blow my nose, it all comes off in the tissue! Has anyone found a solution?

Bumping this up! I have great skin, but all I want is a concealer to cover the broken capillaries around my nose. Which of course, is the hardest to cover because like you said - one blow and it's gone! It seems I can find eye makeup that really is bulletproof, but skin coverage, not so much.

I do have good luck with Chanel's. But I usually carry touch up products with me just in case.

My solution: If my nose is just runny because of allergies, I don't blow my nose, I just swab my nostrils with a cotton swab, so I don't disturb my foundation/makeup. I thought of this after seeing TV interviews with people addicted to plastic surgery. One woman had gone too far and she had to swab out her nose frequently because they made her nose too small. But it gave me the idea.

I thought I was the only one that wouldn't blow their nose in order to save the foundation. LOL I do the dab thing with a tissue. Now if it's a full on cold then dabbing may not do.

On the weekends I usually switch to a tinted moisturizer or lighter foundation and still follow the same routine and it works. Give it a try. Studio Fix has been a staple in my stash for more years than I can count, I just can't be without it. But you might be able to find a different powder foundation that will achieve the same results.

I'm sorry, but if I have to blow my nose, I blow the darn thing -- makeup or no makeup. IMO, it ends up messing up my lipstick more than my foundation or concealer (BBUE stays quite well, btw).

suzy you crack me up. I blow too. I think a cotton swab would just make me sneeze and defeat the whole purpose of trying not to mess up my makeup.

But come on, would you not be somewhat taken aback if you saw someone pull out a Q-tip and swab their nostrils in public? I guess it's no weirder than blowing with a tissue, but still.

I do try the dabbing first with a tissue, but sometimes, well, you know, you just gotta blow.

Working in a medical clinic, you have to/need to wash your hands after blowing your nose, so I would just blow my nose in the bathroom and wash my hands. The cotton swabs can be carried in a little tube in your pocket AND no need for makeup touch-ups. No, not doing the cotton swab thing in front of people either!

It's a legitimate term for cars, glass, and protective gear for people worried they will be shot. It's a ridiculous term for makeup that doesn't smudge. Bullets don't smudge makeup, they kill people.

It doesn't matter that bulletproof is a word. It's a ridiculous term for people to use for makeup. I live in Chicago and every time I hear news of another person injured--or heaven forbid killed-- by a real bullet I'm more bothered when I hear people using the term with regard to makeup.

I've written to Mally and QVC expressing my feelings on more than one occasion. I guess regardless of how many street cred words she uses on air and tries to come across as urban hip Ms. Roncal really isn't in tune with what's really happening on those urban streets. If she did there's no way she would ever have began to use the term to talk about lipstick.
