No company is going to condone or encourage the use of any technology or product beyond what they have received strict FDA approval for. Remember when all these gadgets were for "the eye area only" because, as the vendor stated in those presentations, they only had approval for that distinct area. I remember what a big deal they made about that. Yet I read many reviews by those who purchased those units that they were using them all over their face with no adverse reactions.

Although I didn't invest in the Tria this time around, I am following these threads closely because, if I do at some time try it, I'd like to be as prepared as possible for all scenarios. At that point, many here might have long finished with their treatments and this kind of detailed information/interaction will not be available.

Many of the Tria users have stated that they are also successfully using it on their neck, hands and décolleté when they finish their face treatments. So far, I have not read of any who are that have encountered problems with their Tria unit by doing so but they are very aware that the allotted battery time will be shortened with this additional usage.

Tria has to state firmly where their lasers can be used to be sure they are meeting the exact guidelines of their approval. It certainly isn't worth the risk not to. Just as we saw the original "eye area" approvals expand to include the entire face, within the next year or more, we will also likely see the expansion to the neck, hands and décolleté. And eventually to the entire body. It's just a matter of time.

This is just my opinion but I honestly think if the additional usage of the Tria on the neck, hands or where-ever would seriously damage the Tria unit itself, they would emphasize to a much great level the risks involved. From the precautions I have read quoted here, they really seemed focused on the areas they have obtained approval for and not on potential damage to the machine. Just my interpretation. And many might not share my interpretation.

The "questionable" fragility of these units really doesn't make me want to purchase one any time soon. I feel badly for everyone who is having or has had any problems and think Tria really might have jumped the gun releasing them for sale to the public before sufficient consumer use testing was done, over an extended period of time, to ensure they were releasing a reliable and dependable product. These are not just a $50 gadget and it seems that every time I read another weekly thread, additional problems and issues arise.

It just doesn't seem fair to all those who trusted in QVC and Tria that these issues seem to be continuing and/or new ones cropping up. I have to think many are beginning to wonder when or if their unit might also possibly start malfunctioning.

Tria - Week 4

Have continued on Level 3 without any ill effects. The sandpaper feeling is gone because of every other day use of PTR Firm-X Peeling Gel. I have been doing my face, neck and hands since the end of week 1.

As for results, nothing dramatic so far (trying to be patient, but not my strong suit). My one age spot continues to lighten and get smaller. I also have a chicken pox scar in the nasal labial fold which is usually not very visible. I noticed that it is becoming more visible so I think that means that my cheek must be lifting to open up that fold. That is somewhat of a double edged sword, but of the two issues, I will take seeing the scar. I don't think this result would have been noticeable without the scar as a marker. The end of this week will be half way there. Yeah!

I'm on the eve of Week 4! VERY excited!

I'm still a little sandpapery (awaiting arrival of Cure exfoliator) but just in the areas where I continue to get red and probably overlap too much.

I'm still getting red down the middle of my face and around my mouth. It's hard NOT to overdo because that's where my most predominant wrinkles are. Also, I'm thinking the center of the face may be more vascular and more prone to redness than other areas. Don't know if that's actually the case, though.

The woman who has used it since its Canadian launch said her skin didn't do well for the entire treatment time. She mentioned she looked like she had a tan -- and I'm kind of looking that way, too. Not wild about THAT!

This morning I was thinking that my skin itself is looking EXTRA great (outside of the center zone). It was in the best condition I've ever had it when I began, but just something about it looks clearer, plumper? Something.

I'm surprising myself at how patient I AM being, but it must have sunk in that the real results appear after treatment has stopped.

I need to go back and see if those who began a second round experienced the same side effects all over again. Hmmmmm...

Thanks for starting this, shannara! Many of us seem to be hanging in there, and I'm hoping we all achieve results that make us glad we stuck with it!

My sister and I are right there with you. Funny thing-both of our chargers went out this weekend. I am still using level 3 on my face, neck, chest and hands/top of forearms. She and I both agree, our skin has NEVER looked better. I went out last week and STOCKPILED regular blush. I have been using cream or stick blush for the last year because my skin has been so dull, flat, ashy, I don't even know. And regular powder blush looked horrible. Powder blush looks awesome now. Now, I am just amazed how great my skin looks and how smooth my makeup goes on.

My Sun spots on my face are lightening. I too am the LEAST patient person, but I am eagerly waiting for more results as far as the wrinkles, when the 8 weeks is up.

We both noticed, plugging it into our wall USB chargers for our tablets the last few days, HOLY SMOKES the last 2 treatments have really hurt. Like the laser is a lot more powerful.

I have nothing but great things to say about this little investment, and can't wait too see hat the coming weeks brings.

On 4/22/2014 Ludog said:
Did I read the instructions incorrectly? I thought I was to use it for 12 weeks then 4 weeks off.

There are two protocols -- the U.S. and the "global". In Canada and England (and elsewhere where it's been cleared, I imagine) the protocol was 8 weeks DAILY then 4 weeks off. The FDA, for reasons unknown, gave the clearance for 12 weeks at 5 days on, 2 off, for 12 weeks. Most of us have chosen to follow the global protocol, but I've read reviews on both and they each give good results.

Regardless of which you choose, it's after the active treatment stops (either the 8 or 12 weeks) when the results really start becoming apparent. If you want to do another round of treatment, for the Canadian/Euro protocol, take at least 4 weeks off. Not sure for the U.S. protocol, but Tria could answer that for you.

Have you begun your treatment yet? There are threads here beginning with Tria - Day 1 and then after a week of daily threads, shannara wisely chose to "host" them weekly. So there's lots of info and everybody has shared their experience -- very helpful.

I just noticed you mentioned "4 weeks off", so that must be the same for both protocols.
