I've had some removed from the dermatologist before. She used something like a laser pen, for lack of a better description. It just took a few seconds. There will be red marks afterward that will take a little to heal. My insurance didn't cover it . I think it cost about one hundred dollars but it was well worth it.

All, approaching 60 and new skin problem are deep whiteheads. I probably should go get a good facial but wondering if you have any quick tips. These babies are stubborn and deep. Thanks in advance for any tips!

You may go to a doctor or a good aesthetician for a facial to rid of them, but you will need repeat treatments, so Paula's BHA 9 will probably be the best and not leave scarring. You treat the spots as it is strong, too strong to do parts of the face that aren't problematic.

Fresh lemon juice works. Just soak a Q-tip and apply to spots 2x a day. This will exfoliate the area to the point that you'll be able to remove the plug by gently scraping if off because it will be at the surface of the new skin. It takes a few days of continued application, but it works. Tea Tree oil will do the same.

I had a few millia spots caused by certain ingredients in the skincare I was using and out of frustration removed 2 of them and they left small marks (holes). That was before I knew about Lemon juice. I used the Lemon juice on the other 2 and no marks (scars) what so ever.

Retin-A

I had one in the outer corner of my eye from using a product with oil in it, and it was getting bigger. It was right in the corner, any more toward my eye and it would have been inside. I had a choice to lance it myself (with a professional derm lance or pay a derm $$$$ to do it for me.) Decided to try the retin-a on it for a while. So I dabbed it right on top with a q-tip and lo & behold- it eventually dried up somewhat and came right off.

I have been prone to milia for a few years; derm told me it is inherited , It has severely limited what I can use on my face now; no serums or oils; worst culprit by far is Hope in a Jar and the other skincare products from Philosophy; I had at least a dozen milia two days after using HIAJ. Don't know what they put in that stuff but it sure did a number on my face!

Don't attempt to pick at them or you will have a scar. Best is to try and eliminate them from forming by being careful about what you use on your skin. I have found using the clarisonic has really helped along with finding the right skin care regimen...it is personal to everyone so will require some trial and error. I rarely have any problem with it now. For removing them, there are lots of suggestions you can try.

I too have milia. They are not like a pimple that can come to a head. I believe that it's an inherited tendency. My mom, at 90, with beautiful skin, also has them.

I used PC BHA 9 but found that had no effect. I do not recommend fooling with them yourself. You can be left with scars. As well, many milia form near the eyes. Bad area to go poking around or using lemon juice or exfoliants or extractors.

I went to a dermatologist who zapped them and wiggled out the white part. It was not painful. I had small red marks left that healed in 5 to 7 days. My insurance - Medicare - covered the procedure.

I'm going back to finish the remaining milia. Good luck!
