I was a big fan of the original formula and I've read some not so nice reviews of the new formula. Figured I can always return it. Bought it. And loving it. Not understanding the negative reviews I've seen saying its so different from the original. I'm pretty darn picky, especially when things get reinvented and I didn't think there was anything wrong in the first place. My observations about the new formula for anyone who loved the old formula.... It's slightly thicker, but just slightly and hardly noticeable. It is slightly more moisturizing but not by much. It has a similar but less fruity smell and is less fragranced than the original. The finish is more satin matte then semi matte. But still matte and not shiny. The biggest difference is it felt a bit heavier and almost a bit oily when first applied and took just a bit longer to dry down than the original. At first I was worried it was going to be too heavy and greasy, but it wasn't after it took about a minute to set. So application wise it felt a lot different going on, that was the biggest change I noticed. But after it felt and wore similar to the original. All in all it has worked well. I want a 100% physical SPF and most dry me out. Josie's doesn't and acts as a moisturizer as well. I wouldn't count on this for anti-aging benefits beyond the SPF but as do most of us, I wear a serum under this that takes care of that. And with a little Mally face defender over it this has worn well and doesn't leave me shiny or greasy hours later like some SPFs do. I don't really see that there was a need to reformulate but I'm pretty sure I like the new formula just as much as the old one. I don't have both decks in front of me but I did a thorough comparison at one point. The original had a fantastic ingredient deck. The new, not so much and not something I'm very interested in purchasing. Since I use Argon Oil at night I find that I don't need a serum in the morning under the moisturizer, even though I have dry skin.
