splash of water for second cleanse?

I've been getting pretty good results using the 2 cleanse method and I know to add enough water during the first cleanse to get that froth for a good clean but does anyone have an opinion on using/not using the splash/dip of water during the second cleanse? I'm not really sure if I should be, I think the 2nd time is really more of the conditioning. What is everyone else doing?

I add water for the 2nd cleanse too. I find it helps distribute the CC through my hair better and helps it rinse out faster.

I add a big splash of water for both cleanses. I actually stick my head under the shower for a second. You want to add enough water, so that you feel the cc covering every hair. You want to make sure to really distribute the cc.

Another vote for the splash on the second cleanse.

I dunk my head under the shower, shake like a wet, hairy dog to distribute the water, and get a good froth. I do this for both cleanses.

But then still add the splash on the second cleanse. Before I rinse either cleanse I dip my head under the shower and really froth it up again and massage the scalp, it helps it rinse out faster.

I usually don't. I don't even really do a cleanse the second time, just distribute evenly and let it set for the remainder of my shower. I've tried both ways and don't really notice a difference, so I don't mess with it much.

I always do the splash for the second cleanse. I think after you've been WENning for a while, you can tell whether the product has actually bloomed or not (which requires water).

I add a splash to the 2nd, but not as big a splash as I do my first cleanse. I comb massage it on, then comb it through from top to bottom and then actually comb it from under/bottom combing it up to the top of my head and leave it that way then until I'm done showering. I rinse then until I hear my hair squeek, then get it good and wet one last time.

Ok, someone's got to explain to me what's the blooming deal is about this blooming cleansing conditioner?!!!

I'm actually serious about this, because it's so different from the way that I use the CC.

After I wet my hair, I try to gently squeeze out the excess water. Then I basically coat my scalp with the CC (first and second cleanses). I don't really have a lot of hair -- it's thin/fine and shoulder length. My primary focus is actually to give my scalp the maximum CC ingredients punch that I can.

The CC is the consistency of a hand lotion. So, for the first cleanse, I just massage it into my scalp for about a minute and then rinse it out. For the second cleanse, once again, I massage the CC into my scalp and hair. Then I pin it up and take a 3-5 minute shower. Just before I wash the CC out, I do splash some water on it and massage my scalp for another 30-45 seconds (I'm not even sure why I do this). Then I rinse the CC out.

So what am I missing out on by using my routine instead of the splash routine you all are describing? Thanks.

-- bebe

It is interesting to me that you don't add the extra water. I guess you could always try it and see if you like it more or less than what you already do. I dont squeeze out the excess water before adding the cc. Once I massage it in, I add a big splash of water. I think the extra splash just helps to distribute the cc all over the hair. The cc is so thick and the extra water thins it up a bit so it will spread better. The blooming everyone describes is because the cc gets very frothy and almost silky feeling. All I can say is try it. If you don't like it, stick to the way you are doing it. I think as long as you get results that you like, that is all that matters. Happy Wenning. Let us know what you think if you try it.

Thanks.

-- bebe

Bebe777, I guess I always assumed that you added the splash of water.

Hilary, thanks for mapping this all out for me. It's so funny to think that I've been applying the CC in a way that's so different from other people. First I apply much less CC than most Wenner (though I'm sticking with that), and now this "blooming" concept.

I kept reading post after post on this thread and, finally, it occurred to me that maybe it was something I should try out. I think somebody mentioned a while back that the rule is that there are no hard and fast rules. *g* I never thought I might be the poster girl for that saying.

I just got my BGT and right now I'm trying to get a sense as to how it's going to work for me.
