How does one get the dewy look??

I use a moisturizer and argan oil, but I use a mineral powder for my foundation. So, I have a matte look, would love a dewy look sometimes, Tia~

Interested in answers to this. I'm only able to get the dewy (not oily) look when I use IT cc cream or Dr. Jart bb cream. But I would like to be able to be dewy (or satin-y) from mineral powder since that's what I prefer to use.

I add a drop of Josie's luminizer to either my foundation, moisturizer or primer.

Spray caulalie beauty elixir over anything. It sets makeup and gives a nice dewy look. I love the stuff

I simply spritz with rosewater - in a very fine mist - after my powder and blush. makes them look like a liquid foundation, moist and dewy. have to be careful not to use too much.

You can buy luminizers and highlighters in stores. I use Bobbi Brown's Luminous Moisturizing Treatment foundation to start with when I want that look. It's about $45. I don't use it daily. I'm an oily-skin gal to begin with. I have a luminizer (Revlon, I think) that I add to specific spots also...or sweep on a little highlighter.

Using my foundation primer over the top of my make-up helps. This tip was in a magazine at my beauty salon and I don't remember which magazine. The article caught my attention because it highly recommended several primers as being better for your skin as well as giving better make-up results and Laura Mercier was one of them. Right now I'm using her basic primer in the light grey tube but she also has a radiance primer. I use my foundation brush to apply and it works nicely.

I prefer most of my face to be matte, but sometimes I take a tiny dot of serum, clear eye gel, etc. (whatever product doesn't dry matte) and dab it over the top of my cheek bones. Gives me just enough dewyness without looking oily.

O/P, if you're using a mineral powder foundation, I would assume you're young. I've read where many older women (including myself) can't use mineral powder because it settles into fine lines that are completely invisible with a moister foundation. I liked mineral powders until I was about 50, looked in the mirror on a hot day and I was shocked--and I have good skin! No more mineral foundation for me.

This. And if you are using foundation be sure you are not using a matte finish.

For me - very simple.

When my makeup is finished, a take a damp washcloth and lightly press it against my face.

I removes any loose powder residue and adds a bit of a natural dewy look.

And - best of all - it's free and takes less than 30 seconds.

I believe that the "dewy" look comes from having great skin vs makeup. It starts with healthy, glowing skin first. I'm not trying to brag at all but people often compliment me on my skin and that it has a "glow" and it honestly doesn't matter what foundation or makeup I wear (I usually use mineral powder but sometimes switch it up with different liquids/cc or bb creams). I used to think it was my makeup until I started switching it up occassionally and would still get compliments or people asking what kind of makeup I use. If I were you I'd start with looking at skincare. HTH!

What about the Guerlain powder balls in all the different colors....I can't think of the name but that would give a nice glow or YSL Touche or Dior has a nice highlighter. Almay might even have one. Just lightly dust around cheek bone and forehead and where ever you want highlights.

For my skin, Sonia Kashuk's Perfecting Translucent Illuminator is the answer. $15 at Target. It adds very, very subtle dewiness, without adding shine, which other brands do to my skin. No glittery effect either, like some have. I mix a drop of it with my Elta MD tinted 41 spf in the morning and my skin is dewy all day. You can also mix a drop into any foundation.

After all make up is on - even powder - I stand by my humidifier for a few seconds - seems to set make-up and puts a nice dewy finish on my face. Sets it with a nice moist finish - just a few seconds with the soft mist coming out.

You can also use a damp blender sponge - press all over your face to set make up and give a nice dewy finish - takes the powder look down - both work great and I do it every day.

Good skin care and an exceptional moisturizer will make you glow. If you like to look like you have a glow, don't use powder foundations. They are really too matte. Instead use a moisturizing foundation and a cream blush.

Whenever I use glycolic acid on my skin at night, I wake up glowing. It just seems to work for me...

Believe it or not, I learned this tip in a write-up about Liza Minnelli, of all people, when she was in her glory days. If memory serves me well, she is the one who revealed it to her interviewer.

MAC Fix + finishing spray give a loose foundation a more dewy look. Also, at the drugstore level NYX has a dewy finishing spray. You need to experiment with how many spritzes will get the job done.

I know many primers now have a glowy finish. Maybe one of those under your mineral powder?

Laura Mercier's loose mineral foundation leaves a dewy glowy finish.

Thanks girls! So many good tips! Can't wait to try something..I'm 62, but the argan oil keeps it moist. I used to have dry skin, but no more. I don't notice any dryness from the powder but I don't see that well anymore..lol! The argan oil has really helped any wrinkles I have..its a miracle worker!
