I am just a few years behind you, and also need oil proof products.

I use Bare Mineral oil absorbing primer, and their loose mineral powder foundation, blush and eye products.

I use Urban Decay eye primer, and Urban Decay 24/7 liner. Once I dust with finishing powder everything stays put, even during the Chicago summers (which are notoriously humid).

I also agree with you, I have never found a waterproof mascara I could use, because they melt off with the oil on my skin. The best mascaras I have found are Bare Minerals volumizing, Tarte's curling mascara, 100% Pure mascara and Almay.

Michele

Ladies, I'm not a school girl with oily skin, I'm 55, but I live in the South Texas Humidity. The beauty pros continuously advertise their wonderful water proof products...eyeliner, shadow, mascara, etc. Really....! I dont walk in the rain daily, get hit by the lawn sprinkler, or cry on a regular basis, so i dont understand all they hype for waterproof. We need oil proof!! Eyeliner, shadow, etc that does nt diappear due to the natural oils from the skin. Has anyone found these products, or is there the need out there that I truly think there is? How can we communicate this to the beauty pros??

There really are many brands available today, from drugstore to higher ends, that offer much in the way of oil free facial products. However where I think you don't see it referenced much is in more specialized products such as for the eyes. I don't recall seeing an "oil free liner" or shadow or even "oil free" mascara and that is what many could possibly benefit from. (tho I do pretty well with waterproof mascara myself)

My skin is as dry as the desert but for some strange reason, not so in my eye area. My lids have excessive amounts which causes most of my eye m/u to smudge, travel and smear all over. They keep coming out with these long lasting products (liners, shadows, etc) but I have not heard anyone actually say this contains no oils whatsoever which should help those with oil issues.

For the face, they have all sorts of oil free products but for other cosmetic applications, I think oils are in the bulk of them. It is an interesting thought - I just wonder if they would work well enough to counteract the oil being produced by the users? I'll have to ponder that.

I do know that some eye primers (for above and below the eyes) can help the problem but it's not always a complete solution. Some recommend using a primer followed by a gentle dusting of a translucent powder before applying any eye m/u even on the lashes in between layers. And if possible using translucent powder after the first liner application (with a pencil, for example) then using a powder liner in the same color as the pencil liner was on top of the translucent powder. If you try and put some powder at each step it can help a lot. There are also products that are designed to keep liner in place, mascara and even shadows but other than Anastasia who makes one for mascara, I am not familiar with the other brand names who sell them.

I can completely commiserate with you on this really annoying issue!

Neutrogena used to make a wax free mascara which I loved and used for years but then they decided to stop manufacturing it. I know it sold well here so was surprised and saddened when they stopped. It was nice not have all the junk on my lashes daily and it also held up so well .......... similar to how waterproof mascaras can do for me.

Are you using primers? If I use an eye primer under my shadow, it stays all day - a marked difference from days I don't use one.

I'm in Central Texas and have much less humidity to deal with than South Texans, but good primers work wonders. Some cream shadows claim to have a primer built in, but I haven't tested those.

I only use IT Cosmetics products now. I'm 43, and have oily skin. I use a primer all over my face as well as a lid primer. My make-up stays on all day long. I keep blotting papers with me at all times for my nose, but other than that, no touch ups all day. I highly recommend their products!

I asked about eyeliner for oily eyelids last week on this board, and got some great answers! This combination is working for me:

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Stila Smudge Stick eyeliner

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes mascara

ZERO smudging/smearing for 14 hours, and still relatively intact after sleeping with make up on! Removed easily with Purity.

I am going to try Stila Stay All Day liquid liner next. And I will be searching for some crayon-style shadows.

Best of luck!

cshell2 -- I feel your pain!!! My oily complexion can't tolerate 'waterproof' either! Most of the non-waterproof drugstore brand mascaras work well for me.
