I love 613, but as a CC I have to mix with FIG to get the results I want. However, I use 613 as a leave in after shower with wonderful, full, shinny results. I also use 613 styling cream and mousse and LOVE the results. go figure

OH, shoulder length (yes, you go WEN!) very straight, fine, but thick hair.

613 Question

My second time using WEN, I decided to try out the 613 that had come with the kit. I love the smell of it, but I'm not sure it worked for my hair. I did my first cleanse with the lavender CC and then did my second cleanse with a few less pumps of lavender and added 3 pumps of 613 and left this combo on for the rest of my shower. My hair is long, thick, and naturally curly except for the underneath which tends to be straighter. The underneath parts of my hair are amazing. Sooo smooth and silky. The top part of my hair that tends to be pretty curly and dryer didn't seem to like the added 613. It was pretty frizzy and had a lot of flyaways. Still really soft though. Instead of leaving my hair the natural curly that it is, I straightened it and it looks great although I would still say the underneath of my hair is healthier and shinier looking than the top.

Did I do something wrong with the 613? Was mixing it with the lavender a bad idea? I'm still learning how to use everything. I think the lavender may be a little too drying for my hair. I plan on trying the tea tree and fig next, but I wondered what the best way is to use 613 so it doesn't dry my hair out. Thanks!

613 can make your hair more dry if your hair doesn't need the additional amino acids (protein). I cannot use 613 because it makes my hair brittle and dry feeling. My hair needs moisture and does not do well with protein.

Maybe every once in a great while I'll use it, but I always use it a first cleanse and fig or one of the seasonals as my 2nd cleanse. Every now and then I'll use the ca as the first cleanse and use 613 as the 2nd, but not too often...I'm not a fan of the scent of 613 either...just trying to use up my stash I have from last springs tsv that I got on auto delivery. I've been using the same 16 oz bottle for almost a year, so that's how often I actually do use it!

613 gives my hair strength, but if I use it too much, it is very drying. I only use it when I need it. I generally use it as a second cleanse about once every two weeks. It is great to cleanse your face with if you love the smell. Lavender is not one of the more moisturizing cc's either. You may have better luck with TT, Sam, or fig. Hope this helps.

I was wondering if there was another good use for the 613. I've read on here about people using certain CC's for other things. I'll have to give the 613 as a face wash a try. Thank you!

jmm, you have curly hair. Your hair is thirsty for protein. I suggest you use it a few more times in different ways (first cleanse, second cleanse, by itself, etc.) before you give up on it.

Wen has a serious learning curve. I started Wenning in September and just recently learned which formulas and techniques work best for me. 613, Tea Tree and Fig are all in my current regimen.

My hair is very happy!

Everyone is different. My hair is fine/wavy and looks fantastic with 613. I use it at least once a week (WENning since Oct/Nov). So, don't be afraid to experiment. I would personally try CCs alone before mixing them, just to get a feel for what works in your hair. For me, LAV is very drying and POM and SAM both leave me with flyaways. But Fig, 613, and Tea Tree are all great. I also really like FAS from last fall.

Good luck!

My curls need moisture and don't like too much protein. My hair doesn't do well when I use 613 more than once a week and I try to use it only 2-3 times a month. My hair does much better when I use Fig with Remoist and oils often and 613 sparingly. I've colored my hair for 20 years, but that pales in comparison to the damage I did when I started using a protein deep treatment as my regular conditioner because it made my hair feel so good. It did wonders for my hair at first, so I used more. Then it made my hair brittle so that it broke easily and I lost a lot in the shower. The damage is gone now, but it took a long time and an absolute avoidance of added proteins in my products.

When I fist bought 613, I used it every wash and didn't realize it had protein in it until my hair went from feeling super soft to feeling dry. I stopped using it immediately and returned to the Fig. I can use it 613 with success, as long as I use it sparingly.

You're both correct, Chynna! I shouldn't have made such a general statement. My curls love protein, so I automatically assume that other curlies love it as well.

When I first started experimenting with 613, I used it every wash or first and second cleanses as well as the leave-in. My hair was almost brittle. It wasn't until recently that I found my balance with the 613 and Tea Tree CCs, and I always use Fig for my second cleanse and leave-in.
