How long was the longest hair you have ever seen?

I saw a woman today with hair down to her knees. I have never seen hair that long before. It was stunning! She wasn't a short woman either so that was really long hair! It was the exact color as mine! I wanted to ask her what she used, but I imagine she gets asked that a lot and I didn't want to just walk up to her and start grilling her on her hair.

Before this I had only seen hair down to the butt. What's the longest you have seen? I always wonder if there is a genetic stop point for different people.

I've always been so envious that she could "keep" her hair. When I was young, my hair got to be 2" below my knees. It was a pain in that you had to always remember to pull it to the side when you sat down, otherwise you sat on it and jerked your head back.

My mom always tried to braid it, or at the very least put it in pigtails and pony tails. But then my mom had my little sister, and shortly after cut my hair into a bob. She no longer had the time it took to care for it, and I was too young to do it myself. I've been trying to grow it back ever since, but the longest it ever got was to my waist. Now I can't even get it to grow that long!

My elementary school music teacher had bone straight, black hair to her knees. Then suddenly one year, she cut it all off and permed it. She looked like Little Orphan Annie.

Yes, it's long but....so thin & stringy....should be chopped off around mid-back. My sister, back in 1976, had the most gorgeous hair I've EVER seen. Blonde, down to her hips and UBER thick (her hair band didn't need to be twisted)!! In college (Lincoln, NE), people would continually stop to compliment on her hair. It definitely was a show stopper.

I worked with a woman who had hair that came to her mid thigh. It wa strong, shiny, healthy. When she wore it in long braid, it was fine. Unique. But sometimes she wore it open, flowing. She resembled Cousin It when she did that.

My hair used to be 7 inches below my waist; I hated it. My mother refused to cut it or let me and my father couldn't intervene. When I accepted a job 600 miles away after I graduated from college, I had my hair cut, styled, then handed the pony tail to her, which she kept until she passed away. My hair was never "mine"; I despised it until I cut it, then went weekly to the beauty shop, then learned to blow dry it myself. Consequently, I never fought the "hair battles" w/ my children! They were happy & so was I!

WOW! Picture of Crystal Gale is amazing! I never knew! The woman I saw had thicker hair, looked like it had always been trimmed, she had it all to one side and hanging loose in front over her shoulder. Now I am kicking myself for not asking her what she used. It was thick all the way to the ends and glossing. She would be a good advertisement for whatever it was for use.

I happened to see a woman at WM with long shiny hair past her bum. It actually looked OK. I also see many women with '80s perms there too.

My hair just never would grow past mid-back.

I used to work with a woman who had NEVER even trimmed her hair - she could step on it. She always wore it up in a snood at work and usually up in some way when off work. She told me she never washed it all- just the part closest to her head , and then just brushed the remainder.

The longest I ever had my hair was just to my shoulder blades and I grew that so it would be long for my wedding.

Mine!

A few years ago my hair was down to my mid-calf. I hadn't cut it (except for minor trims) for 10 years.

Most of my life I've had long hair, anywhere from shoulder to mid-back length. At one point my hair was already to my mid-back and I decided to see how long it could actually get. I'm a scientist after all so this was part experiment. I didn't cut it, no blow drying, no hot irons, wore it mostly pinned up and treated it as gently as possible. Since my hair is fine many people had no idea how long my hair was since it was pinned up.

When I finally got tired of the hair I had a photo taken for memories sake and then had it cut. I selected a salon and walked in for my appointment with a plastic bag and elastic band (for a donation). The stylist looked at me and said "most people who come in here with a plastic bag are going to donate hair." Then I unpinned my hair and she was shocked. Before the first cut she asked if I was ready and I said "do it." Snip .. over three feet of hair was gone.

I tell everyone the day after the big cut I had a major headache. My whole scalp hurt. I never thought my long hair was heavy but it must have been.

Since then I've donated hair a second time and am almost ready for a third donation.

It is striking and different and quite beautiful on the right face! I just wish mine could get that long. I am looking to donate one day, but it just won't get past the top of my rear end! I might cut down on the amount of trims, but I really don't like it looking scraggly.

I met Crystal Gayle in person at the Nashville Star show a few years back. That hair is incredibly cool in person and I have to say, very well maintained. I don't know what she uses on it (and I'm sure she has her roots done), but it looks very healthy considering.

I worked with a woman in the 1990s who had hair down to her knees. She wore it in a chignon (sp?). She washed it once a week. Her husband helped her with it. It was a weekly event as it took most of the day to dry, so she had to leave it down until it fully dried.

Sounds like a lot of work to me, but it was her thing.

She's in her 90s now. I do wonder if she every cut it or if she's still working it.

I was kind of surprised by how her hair looked in that pic I posted. Usually this is how it was when I'd see her on TV.

I have hair envy and it is about a foot longer than on the woman I saw the other day! It would be hard to wash at home I guess, but I would love to have that problem.
