Just turned 55 and every lipstick I try is either drying or makes my lip lines look horrible.

I have used Skinn, Tarte,Mac, Nars, Clarins,Chanel and others. Is there any one's you can recommend or products that would help make my lips in better condition?

Thanks for any help ladies.

Shopping girl59

Bobby Brown hands down. I uses Brownie without a lip liner and it stays on my lips longer than any other lipstick. She has different formulas, but this is my fave.

Are you serious about Chanel? (I never tried Chanel lip, but I'm planning to, because the colors are always so beautiful!)

But, I bet if you put a lip balm on first and then applied whatever lipstick (with a brush!), I bet you will get better results, and your lips won't feel dry, nor will the color feather.

One of my favorite balms is Blistex Lip Renewal. Sometimes I put another one on top of that (just because I have it), and then I always brush on lip color. When you use a bullet, you are less likely to get a precise application of color, usually because of the lipstick formula with the waxes, etc. The balm will smooth any "lip craters" so that the color can go on more smoothly and accurately, and will not allow the color to spread where it shouldn't. Blot w/ a tissue and then reapply if you want long-lasting color.

Another favorite thing I like to do is to apply another different tone of color in the center of my lips = dimensional color which is just nicer looking.

I am fair with auburn hair and reds have always been tricky for me. I can easily wear this one. Everyone I've ever recommended it to has loved it. She has a pink, Saint something that is also lovely. They're tough to find at B and M stores and a little pricey to risk online, I agree.

Neutrogena has a MoistureSmooth color stick, that I recently discovered and love. I was wearing Tarte Lipluster, but they are so expensive, and different colors have different textures. I like the Neutrogena, and they are only eight to ten dollars. It's kind of a color/shine crayon. It doesn't dry out my lips, and doesn't bleed like most do.

Hi.

I always use some type of balm, fresh right now. And line my lips with Malloy invisible liner or another. Yes, even Chanel but ended up returning as did not like the color nor texture. But got a Chanel coco shine that is nice but no staying power and prefer a lipstick.

Keep them coming

Shopping girl

Maybelline Lip Elixirs are beautiful, non-drying, and I've had no trouble with them moving. They're a cross between a lipstick and a gloss and come in so many colors, something for everyone.

I'm 53 and my favorite everyday lipstick is from Kohl's, Flirt Chickstick in the shade Dainty. Supposedly this shade is a dupe for MAC Syrup, I don't know though as I've never used MAC but I love these Chicksticks, no fragrance, not drying, lovely finish, nice variety of shades and good price.

My all time favorite Nars Damage is drying and I save that for special occasions, can't wear it daily.

I tend to like lipsticks that are more on the sheer side because I've never really liked the feel of regular lipstick and have usually preferred gloss.

I did just get three Too Faced lipsticks, though, and am hoping that they suit me in texture as well as they do in color -- beautiful selection of shades. They included a sample of their lip primer with the order, which I'm looking forward to trying.

I agree with the poster who mentioned the Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Sticks. I have a few of them. Again, great shades. I find I do better with them, though, if I top them with a gloss or use them in conjunction with another lipstick.

Never have issues with Chanel or Bobbi and like some formulas of Laura Mercier. Chanel is still my all time fav, just not the long wearing gloss formula, that burns my lips.

I'm in your age range and have very wrinkly lined lips. I know exactly what you mean. I have all of those you mentioned in various formulas, ie, MAC has several formulas and even within the same formula, dryness can vary by color and pigmentation.

I suggest using Jack Black lip balm. It is not greasy or shiny. It does not sit on the lips like most balms, it absorbs and leave a matte finish which is a perfect foundation for lipstick application.

If I had to recommend one brand or formula for hydrating lips and helping the wrinkles, it would be either Dior Addict, not Addict Extreme, or Maybelline Whispers line. It might vary by color or finish but in general, all are wonderful in both lines. I also understand YSL Rouge Volupte in all three formulas is very good but I can't stand the taste of YSL lipsticks so I've not worn them long enough to know. Put it on, wore it for 10 minutes, took it off, returned it.

There is a lip gloss, LipFusion, that is heaven for hydration and it comes in clear. Wear it over any lipstick.

I like the Buxom full-on lip cream in White Russian, sold only at Sephora, made by Bare Minerals. They also have a 3 piece lip set right now that looks interesting.

On 2/15/2014 shoppinggirl59 said:

Shoppinggirl, you win the bet! Sorry that the Chanel didn't work for you. I'll have to try it at the Chanel counter before I buy.
