Thanks all! You give great advice on these boards, so I can rely on your rec's.

My skin doesn't like moisturizer, but feel I need something lately. I was thinking about using a regular moisturizer, but feel the rose hip seed oil is the way to go, especially in summer. My skin would feel really uncomfortable with moisturizer.

Can we cocktail these? Apply separately?

Do we need both? I like the benefits of each one.

I have the Mad Hippie Vit C Serum ready to buy in my iHerb cart (great sale on Mad Hippie + free shipping over $20). I will be getting this, but also reading about Rose Hip Seed Oil. Nice benefits also.

I wouldn't be necessarily bad or hurt to use them, but because Mad Hippie C is water based so they wouldn't mix well.

You could apply the MHC first and allow ample time to dry/absorb then top with RHSO as your emollient. It may cause the products to ball up if you message or rub too much though.

I agree with JLF in that they really do serve two purposes and they both have properties that the other doesn't contain so it will not be redundant using both by any means.

I usually use vitamin C first then will apply my oils over that. On a rare occasion, when I am in a rush, I will mix my vitamin C with my oils.

Yes, I agree with the others! I apply separately. I want the full action, and only the action, of the vitamin C (L-ascorbic) first on my skin. Then I mix aloe and rose hip seed oil together to put on top as moisturizer.

I would consider mixing if my skin were too sensitive for L-ascorbic. From the ingredient deck of the Mad Hippie, I don't think this would pose a problem.

I don't know if it matters, but I use my Vitamin C serum in the morning it's the first thing I put on my face followed by CC cream or just a regular SPF. At night after cleansing, I pump a couple a drops of Rosehip Seed Oil with a carrier oil, either Sweet Almond Oil, or Avocado Oil, and gently massage into my face and hands. To your point, I don't know If I'm using it correctly, but it's just what I've always done. I'd also love some guidance if anyone could provide it. TIA

Just a little FYI...I don't know how many people here subscribe to it, but I've read that part of getting oils to work well is to massage them in rather than just swiping them on with a lick and a promise. I also like to mist my Thayers on and then apply the MH serum while my face is still damp. The damp face is supposed to take the serum deeper. It may be true and may not, but I figure it doesn't hurt.

Is it L-ascorbic acid? You would be feeling the slight tingle/sensation of the acid.

(The mineral ascorbates act differently than plant vitamins, though I don't think I could explain the difference.)
