Harpa...I just got it out so I would be sure to give you the correct information....Lumene vitC BB creame (thought it was a CC due to the coverage)...it is the best! I was in Ulta last weekend and when I saw it I remembered the rave reviews from the board ladies (thank you!). It is so light and gives a natural finish but great coverage. I have been using Lauara Mercier tinted moisturizer which I also like, but a lot more $$$. I think you will like it because it is the best of both worlds!

I caught a glimpse of myself in the sun and realized that my makeup was aging me...just too much. So now I'm just using a light CC that is so natural looking, some mascara, light as possible taupe eyebrow for the tails, and natural tinted lipgloss. I feel so fresh and loving the lighter me! Anyone have a similar experience?

Yes, at 59, less is more. I've been using BB creams, tried so many but haven't found the one I like best yet. I may try a CC cream now. I have oily skin, which is a blessing and a curse. I don't have many wrinkles, everyone thinks I'm in my mid-40's but keeping the oil away is still a major job. I like to wear eyeliner since I think it helps bring out my eyes. I like mascara but I wear contacts and it really bothers me to wear it. I always wear a lipgloss, balm or lipstick. In the winter I do like to wear a little darker lip shades but sring and summer I do wear more natural colors.

What CC are you using, phoenixbrd? I can actually go both ways - the subtle look or more intense. Lately, I've been embracing the more natural. Same with my hair. I don't want any fuss with sprays and every hair being in place. I do artfully, but softly, make up, though, with a little eye definition, a little light, a little color and always a good attitude!

I have slowly lightened up on the eye makeup for the last 10 years or so. I try to use black brown mascara instead of black but it's hard to find in waterproof, stopped lining my bottom lashes, instead of lining my upper I only tightline now. I like a very light color on the lid and a wash of neutral taupe in the crease area so my hooded lids at least appear to have somewhat of a crease.

If I'm staying home all day, I will sometimes wear more dramatic looks just for fun.

Since retirement 3 yrs ago, I have made it a point to lighten up with all aspects of skincare and makeup. I agree that older gals need to use less, and a natural look is younger looking and doesn't draw attention to any aging parts of the face. I have reduced my skincare to RetinA at night with Kheils Creamy Avacado Eye Cream, and Mad Hippie or NCN Vit C serum, eye cream and Neutrogena Free and Clear 50spf sunscreen for daytime. My makeup is now Lumene BB Cream (LOVE that stuff), a little eye lid base (eyelids have become darker with age), a touch of Josie M. Color Stick on the cheeks, maybe a little eyeliner (tightlined..it is much less harsh) and mascara. My whole daytime routine takes less than 5 min. It is so liberating!!! If I am going someplace for a meeting or lunch or dinner, I will add a little eye shadow.

I have never worn very much makeup so as I age I just dropped the eyeliner and the red lipstick. I still wear a light foundation, eye shadow on occasion and never leave the house without some lipstick and mascara. Blush is optional because I have rosy cheeks naturally.

Ednapsych...Oh yes! I love the Lumene BB Creme...perhaps you were one of the people who influenced me to try it ...if so, a big hug because my face looks younger and more glowing and yet it covers all the imperfections. I can't belive it out performs foundations that cost much much more. In my journey to lighten the face mu, I have given up primers, blush, bronzers, eyeliner (that was a challenge), and lipstick other than tinted lip gloss. I love the feel and look, I may not look it but I somehow feel like I erased a few years and I think how we feel about ourselves is half the battle. I've also been eating very clean, lots of water/tea, exercise and doing my best to get 8 hours. I also do a sauna, dry brush, and meditation every am....I am dedicated to this process for other reasons but I think part of looking fresher is about this routine as much as ditching the full face mu.

Yes, I've learned less is more too. I've gone with a totally nude, matte eyeshadow base with a slightly taupe colored shadow in a < shape at the edge of my eye with a skinny black line along my upper lashes, no lining or mascara on my lower lashes. I just do not like colored eyeshadow on my eyes anymore. But I also have to use an eyebrow pencil nowadays cause my brows have faded so much as I've gotten older. But LOTS of mascara!
