I've noticed all the skincare lines on QVC and the claims of less wrinkles, looking younger etc In my opinion for someone to look 10+ years younger lasers, chemical peels, botox, fillers or surgery can only achieve a dramatic difference. I was curious what other posters thought about this issue?...

This is not a bash against Lisa or anyone else. Show hosts, or people in the real world for that matter. I appreciate her honesty on the topic. In an interview she said besides her skincare regimen botox was one of her favorite treatments.

http://www.newbeauty.com/blog/dailybeauty/7815-insider-secrets-from-lisa-robertson/

I am sorry to say, no - BUT if you start at a young age: Sunscreen is the miracle serum! And even if you start later in life, sunscreen will help your skin stay younger looking (and prevent skin cancer).

Everyone says retinoids are the gold standard - but I have found them too harsh.

I do think a good diet helps skin stay young looking.

I have tried a lot of them and nonE of them do anything special. I think it is wishful thinking when a customer falls for the hype by the vendors and hosts. SNAKE OIL.

I have never heard any vendor or representative speak of a ""miracle"" product nor have I ever heard any make claims that anyone would look 10 years younger and can't imagine anyone thinking they would ever look 10 years younger. They only say lines may be diminished and often give results of studies.

No one can be that naïve to think that every product will work for everyone and what works well for some doesn't for others. I have tried so many products hoping for some positive results (not a miracle to make me look 10 years younger either) and have found some really good ones that improve my appearance and some dramatically even. These are all great products (though not for everyone as there is no one product fits all) and not merely ""SNAKE OIL"".

Some just don't want to spend any money or take the time to care properly for their skin so they are constantly saying this to have an excuse for not having to bother looking their best. Then there are some who just don't find skincare/makeup a real important part of life and that's ok but the ones that criticize others for liking to try different skincare products hoping to find something that will give them positive results are just trying to make others think like them or else insinuate that they are just falling for hype or have wishful thinking.

What I think is comical is that vendors sell their "wonderful" products, then a couple months later are selling a new and different one. If the original was so great, why do they need to improve it or add to it? Only because they want to keep selling you more!

I have tried a lot of skin care products that do not do what they claim to do. No more of that -- what a waste of my hard earned money. Only good cleansers and moisturizers for me, with sunscreen for daytime. I often notice older actresses with wrinkles around their eyes. They can well afford pricey skin care. So if all these supposed miracle products really worked, they would be using them and getting results. So many people along the lines are making money off these products; the manufacturer, the stores, the sales people, the beauty magazines that promote them, etc. Just like miracle diets prey on the overweight, they prey on our desire to look young. And all the "studies" they spout on QVC. Really? Whose study? Where is in published? Blah Blah Blah. No thank you. I will not be taken advantage of again.

I would say that there are products that may not make you look 10 years younger but do improve skin quality. I have found that argan oil based creams work well with my skin to keep it moisturized, which improves comfort, and the products that fade age spots or other discolorations are also beneficial to the overall look of skin tone. However, I agree that there is no miracle cure for wrinkles. Wear sun screen and hope your mother has great skin.

It's never mentioned, but I think eating well is a big factor in how we age. A healthy diet, with enough Omegas, green leafy vegetables, fruits, grains. Limited or no processed foods. This may sound silly, but I think these things really matter.

My family is Italian, and we have eaten mostly a Mediterranean diet my whole life. I really believe it works. I'm not going to say that someone is 60 and looks 40. But I am going to say that everyone in our family has aged and continues to age well. Now, you can also say that's genetics.

But I think eating well, sleeping well, getting exercise can only help. Limit alcohol, no smoking as well.
