My derm recommends rotating and that is what I do. Usually use a line for a month or so and then switch out products. I find that I can tell more about how my skin is reacting this way. Currently using Algenist, Boscia, some PTR in rotation. Also rotate facial cleansers based on how my skin feels. Still love Purity, CeraVe for face and these take off eye products well. There is just sooooo much out there. I also use LightStim.

I've heard good things about Paula's Choice & NCN Skincare. When I look at Perricone & PTR & Brandt & Gross - I like 1 or 2 items. I wonder about Serious Skincare from HSN? I don't recall anyone speaking about them altho' there seem to be many here who buy on HSN.

I think it's confusing enough to decide WHAT to buy & HOW to use it one's own regimen. And I'll be darned if I can decide WHERE to spend my $$$$?

I'd love to hear what others do.
Ingredient research! I got so tired of over paying and not getting results. It was my own fault. I dove in and researched the day lights out of skin care and ingredients. I still have much to learn but I no longer regularly over pay for mediocre and often harmful ingredients. Sadly, the more I learn the less I believe much of what the vendors say. Btw, NCN has fabulous products.

I use a few products from a few different lines. I think you just need to think about what concerns/issues you have and then find products that contain ingredients that address those concerns- and look for those ingredients higher in the ingredient list rather than towards the bottom.

I personally try to pick products without alot of ingredients, especially "filler" ingredients, and I avoid irritating essentials oils and extracts whenever possible.

The other thing is, that you don't need to spend a ton of money for quality products. It takes trial and error to find things that work for you but if you educate yourself on ingredients and slowly incorporate new products into your skincare routine you will quickly find out what ingredients work for you and what doesn't. And remember- start off with one new product at a time so if you have irritation or breakout, you will know which product was the culprit.

Right now I'm trying to focus on just one new product.... just as you advised HappyDaze......Vitamin C. But I can't tell which one is better among NCN,PC,PTR & Perricone. It looks like they have stable packaging.

I'm hoping maybe to find a sale. Unfortunately Perricone linked C to his Pore product which I already have.

I need the Beauty Banter Fairy to sparkle some Faerie Dust with all the perfect answers. ;-)

Check out the ingredient decks. Also, with C the ph level needs to be correct, around 3-4, I believe, and at least 15%. NCN is 20% and proper ph. PTR does not disclose his percentage or ph but I've read his ph is too high. Dr P is probably overpriced for a C serum, IMO.

I used to jump around. Now I look carefully at ingredient decks and stick with what's produced the best results thus far. Paula's Choice AHA, Jan Marini Vit. C-esta, Dr. P's night time treatment (retiinol) and a line my cousin turned me on to.. Novo Solutions, MD. eye and face serum which I bring down to my neck and chest. I'm using the latter till the last drop to test properly. I don't expect anything to resolve certain aging issues. A topical can't "lift" lax aging skin permanently and if we think it can, we're both delusional. Have reasonable expectations. It's best to tackle this at a younger age with preventative measures.

When all else fails........ get a nip and tuck.... or fillers!

Ahhhh, I see: From reading the ingredients of Peter Thomas Roth CAMU CAMU VITAMIN C Serum..................I found some stuff I don't think I want:

alcohol, corn oil, retinol and fragrance

I certainly can't use retinol unknowingly because I usually don't have PFR.......I HATE and react badly to fragrance.............and the last thing I need is oil for my combo complexion or alcohol to dry me out. YIKES!

Lesson learned!

I use Skinn AM and Pm cleansers as well as the Skinn dermapeel but use Oil of Olay Regenerist serum for day and night than for day after the serum I use the OOO instant hydration and for night following the OOO serum I alternate every other night between OOO anti aging night cream and OOO instant wrinkle revolution, works for me. For me less is much better for my dry mature skin and my face feels and looks like silk, very smooth, hydrated now and makeup goes on so much easier and takes much less as well.

Yet, I've used plenty of Vit C products and OH's just seemed terribly "off" from the real thing. You might check the ingredient deck if you're interested. I was especially turned off by the synthetic orange fragrance added. I figured it can't be all that good to start out with a heavy added fragrance to mimic (poorly I might add) oranges for a Vit. C product. I've always liked his humble attitude and maybe I'm wrong. That was my initial take though. Good luck and take care!

I mix things up. Based on what I've learned about skincare (limited, I'm no expert), aside from the normal cleansing, moisturizing and specific treatments (ie. zits, eye area), I believe the three most important things our complexion needs are alpha hydroxy acid for exfoliation, Retin-A for collagen building, and a Vitamin C serum for feeding it with antioxidants. I've cherry-picked my skincare products accordingly, all from different sources (Alpha Hydrox Souffle or 10% Treatment, prescription Retin-A/Tretinoin, Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum)

I mix things up, however all of the products I use (regardless of brand) are made for sensitive skin.

I mix it up but with pretty much the same line. I use Serious Skin Care but have more than one of their lines which each are focused. I use the Glycolic a couple of times a week to resurface (can't tell you how much I love the gommage facial mask it's fantastic!!. I use C line when I want to give my skin some brightening. I use the Reverse Lift for firming. Their kits are around 50 bucks which makes it affordable to do. I think my skin is better than its even been and IMHO it is because I do mix it up. Instead of listening to a one product does it all, I think my skin responds better by using the different ones. I do still use Purity too. It's the only cleanser I can rub over my eyes and it doesn't irritate.

Definitely not loyal to any line. I shop by ingredient and what I do want to put on my skin, and what I do not want to put on my skin. Lots of rejections for me on lines and individual pieces.
