You may want to hold off on additional purchases until Chaz's Spring Wen TSV comes out. It will probably be in April and will likely retail for $60. It should provide a better value and it also will include the 613 styling creme:

Spring 2014 - TSV (April-?) -- WEN by ChazDean Cleanse, Restore and Style 4-piece Collection: 32 oz.
Styling creme??

I am new to Wen after debating it for a long time, mainly due to the high cost. I finally took the plunge and got the Bamboo Green Tea, which I like. I'm still trying to figure out # of pumps and all that but so far, so good. However, now I've just heard Chaz say that without the styling creme, the models' hair would not look like it does. So now I have to spend even more $$ for the styling creme? Am I hearing this correctly that there is no point to just using the cleansing conditioner alone? I'm not bashing this line I'm just not sure how much more money I can spend. Do you all feel that the system doesn't work without the styling creme? Thanks for the help.

From what I've heard, the styling cream is important for protecting your hair from heat damage caused by blow drying/styling. The cleansing conditioner won't do that. That being said, I am fairly new to Wen, so I haven't bought or used the styling cream yet, and I've still noticed a HUGE difference in my hair without it. So, while the styling cream will probably give you even better hair because it won't be damaged by the heat and it makes your hair smoother and more manageable, in my opinion, just using the cleansing conditioner can still make a big difference for your hair on it's own.

As I mentioned above, the styling creme is a worthwhile purchase. But you may want to wait until the Spring Wen TSV to buy the specially priced kit. I'd suggest that you wade into Wen slowly and just experiment with the cleansing conditioner for now.

Chaz recommends the styling creme for the following reasons:

* lightweight leave-in conditioner for moisture

* polishing gloss for shine

* light gel for hold

* anti-frizz

* heat protectant.

I hope this information helps.

-- bebe

OP, using cleansing conditioner alone will improve your hair. It will be slower than if using more wen items, but it will improve and be healthier. Once your hair gets to a certain point you won't have to use as much and you can purchase different items, such as styling creme...a heat protectent. Know as you use heating tools, hairspray, or other products on your hair those dry out and take away, that is why just using CC alone takes longer to improve your hair. But you can only do what you can, so don't think if you can't use the entire line it is a waste, it isn't. Good luck and welcome!!

The CC is most important, obviously, for improving your hair, reversing damage done by poo, nutrition for your scalp, etc. etc. so I would absolutely NOT say that there's no point to using CC if you don't use SC. ABSOLUTELY NOT. However, for me, the SC makes my hair look nicer, smoother, less frizzy, and it makes the curls more defined, and since I only air dry and never style my hair at all, I welcome that helping hand. Plus, 1 bottle of SC lasts me FOREVER (like 6 months or more) since I use 1 pump per cleanse, and I cleanse maybe 3 times per week. I agree that you shouldn't spend full price for it, but if you can get it in a kit or TSV then I highly recommend that you give it a good try to see if it helps the look of your style. Make sure that you add it to soaking wet hair after your 1 pump leave in. Like I said, I never style my hair, I just roll out of bed and walk out into the world like a big slob, and no one would ever know!

If you're not low on one of your main formulas, though, then as others said I'd wait for a TSV to try it or get a kit where you can try a tiny one.

I achieve great results with the CC on its own, I rarely use other styling products. I do own the styling cream and it does make my hair softer and smoother, but I don't use it regularly. Watching Chaz talk about it today does make me want to use it more often, though!

I don't think it is necessary unless you use heat alot (hair dryer, curler, flat iron), in which it will help to protect the hair from the heat. Otherwise, no, you don't need it if you are getting the results you want. I like using it now that I've found a good way to use it but I find I do not need it to get good results. I didn't use it for many months and did just fine without it.I also don't use any CC as a leave in as it does nothing for me.

So if you like the way your hair is looking without it, you don't need to try it, right?

The cleansing conditioner alone will definitely improve your hair. I feel I need the styling creme because I blow dry my hair daily. The styling creme protects the hair from the heat. It also adds extra shine and smoothness to my hair. The styling creme is kind of like the icing on the cake. The styling creme lasts a lot longer than the cleansing conditioner. One 6 oz. bottle lasts 4-6 months.

I only recently added the styling creme to my regimen. I use it with 1/2 pump of CC and get really great results.

However, before that, I was using just the CC (and a touch of my usual straightening gel prior to blowdrying)--still had fantastic hair.

So, while I don't find it essential to use the WEN styling creme, I do think you need to use something as a heat protectant. As far as the $$, I'd watch for a deal and buy it then.
