Yes, Biotin seems to do the trick for many people.

I had the same problem a little while after I gave birth to my daughter and my hair dresser recommended that. I bought it, but ended up not using it though. It does have some pretty great reviews.

For me, the solution was finding a good shampoo and conditioner that worked for me and sticking to a routine. I have very long, thick, and curly hair, so it does tangle quite easily. I just made sure to use LOTS of conditioner, wait an ample amount of time before rinsing it out, and then styling it with a different gel.

I'm using Nexxus products right now.

I take thyroid medicine and my hairdresser thinks this might to contribute to the fact that my hair brush is full of hair, lose it in the shower and am constantly picking it off my clothes. Just had blood work and everyting is fine with that. My hair is color/highlighted is course, fine and frizzy on ends. A fter I use hot rollers after drying it smooths down but is still a little frizzy on ends. Mostly concerned about looing so much. Any suggestions on a shampoo and conditioner to use. Thanks

I use Living Proof No Frizz and I love it! I also use Josie Maran argan oil on my hair after I have styled it. It makes my hair shine beautifully and it eliminates frizz. QVC sells Lea Journo and I LOVE that also. That really stops the frizz and the shine it leaves is beautiful. Good luck!

If you are just seeking (outward) S&Cs....

I have zero breakage with Carol's Daughter Monoi. I know there are mixed reviews over this formula, but my hair really responds to this. Also, no frizz! (I have normal, but heavy type hair.) But I also have never had any inordinate amount of hair loss.

You might want to try to put a few drops of an oil on your ends, but it's really scalp condition that will dictate how your ends will eventually turn out.

The other consideration (inward) is to compensate for any meds you may be taking. Maybe think about upping your intake of essential fatty acids...all the vits & mins really.

I'm sticking with Nioxin. Since I went back to that shampoo and conditioner I have had almost no hair coming out in the shower or in comb and brush. I am using the #4 for thin color treated hair. I have also started using Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment twice per day (just started using in January so I don't see any new hair growth yet) and I think that is also helping.

I was losing lots of hair; according to my doctor it, was probably from extreme weight loss. I started using Nutri-Ox (generic nioxin) hair products again (they worked once before) and the hair loss stopped. I use the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment.

I also use Andrew Lessman Healthy Hair Skin & Nails. I have used it for a long time but had run out months earlier so I am not sure if it might have prevented the loss or not. I got more & was taking it when the hair loss stopped. Because I was losing so much hair I also took biotin supplements for a while. I'd take HHS&N in the morning & additional biotin in the evening. I do have new hair growth, too.

Thyroid medicine is notorious for making your hair thin and fall out as do some other medications. I am currently experiencing this from a medicine. Don't think it matters what shampoo or conditioner you use if it is your medication causing the problem. Hope I'm wrong.

My family practice m.d. recommended what she used - Biotin 5000mcg It's been a great help to me.

Now I'm experimenting with anti-aging shampoos. And I was using Organix's Moroccan oil (cheaper than JM). Now I've noticed there is a whole line - shampoo, treatment, boost spray. I've also used Nioxin in the past on the advice of a hairdresser.

You can see my problem has been more long term, but these products have minimized it.

I can sympathize. I always had a full head of hair until last year. I agree it's true that age, genetics, hormones, meds, etc. are factors, but i did two things last year that made a huge improvement and restoration. One, I stopped coloring my hair and started using sulfate free shampoos. I find shampooing more often helps too. So, going gray worked out for me. I also changed my diet. I removed all processed, GMO foods and wheat products. I still have plenty to eat, have lost weight and feel better. I don't know if one has anything to do with the other b/c I did both at the same time. Hope you find what works for you. I have new hair growth regularly.

Thanks for the recommendation for Nutri-Ox -- I'm going to get some! And, I KNOW this but don't do it, begin taking Biotin.

Nutri-Ox is by Zotos which also produces a lovely hair care system called Age Beautiful. Sulfate-free and I really like how my hair responds.

Their hair color (Age Beautiful) is particularly good at covering gray -- I do my brows with it.

If the Zotos works, I will collapse in a pile of weepy gratitude. My hair used to be, literally, my crowning glory. I decided to let it go gray beause it still looked good -- thick and lush. Then it started falling out. I can really tell the difference, see scalp peeking through here and there, and see it alarmingly receding at my temples. I have the LightStim and keep trying to remind myself to plunk it on one area after I do my face as kind of a trial how infrared would work (a la HairMax) but I keep forgetting.
