Best mousse I have every used is Vavoom Height of Glam Volumizing Mousse in the black can. It is not a "drugstore mousse" so to speak but you can find it at Walgreens, JC Penney Salons and also the salon at Walmart. It is about $14 but it is very thick and rich and you need a little less than a golf ball size and it will last a while and well worth the price especially when wasting $$ on products that don't work. It really pumps up the volume, almost too much for my thick hair that is now a longer length. I can't say it is overly drying.

My hairdresser recommended Dove Nourishing Curls Mousse to me but I haven't tried it yet…she said she uses it everyday even though she has access to all the expensive products at the salon. She likes it because it leaves her hair soft and doesn't dry it out.

This is probably going to sound strange - but I'm looking for a mousse that will dry out my baby fine hair. Most products weigh it down or make it so soft it goes limp. Any suggestions?

I think I'll give the Dove a try. I haven't worn mousse in years! It really can dry out my hair.

I like the L'oreal mousse - my bottle is black with some red and yellow square design on it. I use a really small amount and blow dry my hair upside down - not much else. It gives it lift. I have fine hair, but a lot of it - so it gives me a lift I could only get if I did curlers.

I just bought my second can of alcohol-free LOreal mouse for under $5 at the drug store. It's in a silver can.
