On 1/25/2014 wackers said:
Thanks Maren ............ I will look up DPL. Also on Nuface versus Nutritone ........... I personally think the NuFace is probably a better machine and basically bought the Nutritone when it went on a crazy low price one day. I have been tempted to buy NuFace many times but then worry that I won't use it.

If I can get my act together with Lightstim and stick with it then maybe I will decide that I can invest in the NuFace. Do you have to use gels when using NuFace? That does get annoying with Nutritone.

Thanks

Yes, you have to use the gel which is what makes me hate using it. The first time I tried it I had gel in my hair, on the counter, on the device -- it was a mess! BellaCarro BRILLIANTLY suggested watering down the gel and putting it in a spray bottle. It works great, but at the end I still have the gel on my face I have to remove. Poor Maren. :-)

Don't know if I actually need a gel for conductivity -- LoveMyBoxer (apologies if I got her username wrong) uses an aloe toner from Mario Badescu that she says works fine. I wonder if just any or liquid would work, or if we need something to conduct the charge (or whatever it is it's doing). I should email NuFace.

Another thing that bugs me about the NF is that on one hand they tell you to use it at least five times a week (at least to begin), but to wait 24 hours between treatments. Sometimes I don't have the time to slot it in that doesn't violate the 24 moratorium, and it throws everything off. I'll have to ask about that, too. :-)

There was a German study (Google it) showing that Green Tea applied before infrared treatment delivered results 10X Faster!
I'd ordered one off eBay from Korea, but was notified the manufacturer was no longer producing that particular configuration. While researching others, I just kind of made my own. I used Organic India Green Tea with Holy Basil, and made a really strong cup of tea. Put it in a spritzer and that was it.
THEN I read a post on EDS that somebody from LightStim had responded to an email saying that the German study was really designed to sell some company's Green Tea cream and it really didn't make a diff.

That didn't make sense to me because what I read indicated they made a solution from green tea extract, soaked cotton strips in it, and applied it to the face for 20 minutes before treatment. What cream? LightStim's response (or rather the individual from LightStim who responded to this woman) seems kind of odd to me.

I want to tell you that after using my little concoction prior to the LightStim, my skin looked wonderful! Just healthier, softer, I was very pleased. I'll continue to use it (or a "real" green tea serum) with my LightStim treatments, regardless of what the LightStim guy allegedly said.

NCN makes one, and there are others out there, too.

I don't think any green tea serum or potion is going to replace any peptide-rich product, nor address the same issues, but I just wanted to tell you about my experience with Green Tea and LightStim. Just make a cup and try it yourself.

I would agree that many of the Isomers serums are good choices. And would also second Nightowlz's response that a good peptide serum that your skin can easily tolerate would be very beneficial. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants which is also excellent for the skin so can't see any negative in using that too.

Maren ....................... hasn't green tea been shown to increase the benefit of derma rolling? There was so much info shared here on derma rolling that maybe I am confusing that with something else but somehow it keeps popping into my brain.

I REALLY saw a difference when I used it -- 3 days in a row. But honestly, the application of a gel, spritzing with water, having to remove the gel, just is a pain. AND -- I was doing the basic and advance techniques and it was taking between 35-40 minutes.

I'm planning -- eventually -- to get the DPL to replace my LightStim so I can just get it done in 10-20 minutes. (I've got the mini and it takes almost an hour to do my entire face, plus I do it at 5 minutes per spot.) Maybe then I'll be more willing to devote the time and hassle to NuFace. We really should be doing both if we're seeing the results. "Should". :-)

Maren .............. I saw a difference too especially with the puffiness under my eyes. But elsewhere too if I used it faithfully. But I so agree with you that applying the gel, then adding more as it dries out then having to rinse all the mess off starts to discourage you after awhile. I think if it was just using the Nutritone solo without all the added fuss, I might be more willing to make the effort.

What is the DPL? And I also use the Lightstim at least 5 minutes per spot so t takes awhile.

MiShell5, I use the Nutritone with serum first, then use the Lightstim right after. Love the results. The "lift" is a definite lift. It does take a while to do all of that. That's why I don't use it more than twice a week, even though I know I would like the results if I did it more. You aren't supposed to use the Nutritone every day. They tell you to skip a day.

I just don't know why I don't reach for it. I used to use (still have) the Connie Stevens Forever Spring machine thingy. That sits in a drawer next to the Nutritone. I do remember using it faithfully when it came out and I had good results....That said, I was about 20 years younger so yeah, of course I had great results!

Michelle

I am not using it like I should, so I cannot say if I have any results or not. I figure a serum could speed up the action!

Michelle

On 1/25/2014 wackers said:
Maren .............. I saw a difference too especially with the puffiness under my eyes. But elsewhere too if I used it faithfully. But I so agree with you that applying the gel, then adding more as it dries out then having to rinse all the mess off starts to discourage you after awhile. I think if it was just using the Nutritone solo without all the added fuss, I might be more willing to make the effort.

What is the DPL? And I also use the Lightstim at least 5 minutes per spot so t takes awhile.

Okay, I just did a NuFace and how could I not do this all the time? The results are pretty pleasing! Don't know if the Nutritone is as instantly gratifying. In theory, we "should" be willing to go through the hassle just to achieve results. I can only imagine what they'd be like long term! In reality, I just get lazy! I have the same complaint with the PTR glycolic acid pads (I just got the Best Sellers kit and it's going back - really don't like anything!). Apply, WAIT, rinse.

DPL is a "deep penetrating light" -- panels so you can do your entire face in one step. Google DPL and I think the name of a seller will come up -- Emerson Electric (?) that has LOTS of info and Q&A's. I learned about it here (natch) and someone said she was pretty much able to see a difference right away. There are more infrared lights than the LS. It's pretty pricy (what isn't?) but there are places to get it cheaper. Search on this board, too -- lots of threads on it!
