The best for me, might not be the best for you. All anyone can do is discuss their experience and make suggestions, but most of the time, with any of these beauty and skincare products, it boils down to our own experimentation/trial & error. I can't say I'm 100% correct, but your skincare products might be too greasy and that's what's causing your pores to clog and be more defined (clogged pores = enlarged pores). To treat your enlarged pores, you want to make sure you're using a good cleanser that's going to lift the gunk out of there. I'd also suggest using some Thayers Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera toner. It's very gentle, inexpensive, and witch hazel is known for reducing enlarged pores.

I'm 56 and I like the IT Celebration Foundation, but I like Laura Geller's too. Whatever one I choose to use, I always us an IT brush for application. Regarding the film on the IT Celebration Foundation, I don't know for sure if it was a formulation issue or if the film developed due to oil/product transfer from the user to the pan. Some may say yes. Others will say no. In any case, I don't get any film on mine and I've had several compacts.

I bet a rose water mist would be a lovely finishing touch. I use WEN Replenishing Treatment Mist in the same way.

I have read several time about a film forming on top of Celebration foundation. Others have said it gets hard and unable to use. I am thinking about trying this and don't want it to happen to me. Is this normal? Does anyone know what cause this? Is this a good foundation for almost 60 yr old skin. I have large pores and normal to dry skin. I always have a problem around my nose, makeup always cakes up there. Kinda looks flakey. I also have acne-rosacea. Not a lot of redness, but occasional breakouts that take forever to disappear. I have also thought about Mally's foundation. What do you think is best? I want something fast, I'm always in a hurry. I have LG Balance and Brighton but it seems to emphasize pore and make my skin look crepey. (crapy) LOL Yeah I know it's spelled wrong but it doesn't allow bad words. LOL

Right now I am using BB cream, Lumine, Ponds, or Garnier.

Does any one use rose water to set their foundation? Does it help with the powdery look?

I actually like this powder and haven't had problems with the film. My guess (and its totally a guess) is that when they first made the product, they pressed the powder too much/too hard and people reported that the brush wouldn't pick up and powder and it developed a film. I feel they've worked this out and have 2 compacts in tan and one in medium with no issues. Nobody who has purchased this in the past year or so complains about these problems, but it seemed common when the product was first launched. It does not contain talc, which might be the problem you have with Laura geller BNB. When my skin is dry (right now) I do not use this or any powder foundation. I only wear it when more humidity. It is fast to apply and I love it in the summer, but if you have dry skin I feel you may be disappointed.

I also found IT Celebration Foundation forms a film. I think it is due to my haste in not letting my primer dry, so brush picks up some dampness. I continue to use it anyway, pushing brush around to loosen.

For me, IT works best over primer, or a BB cream, as I have slight wrinkles and pores that are very exaggerated if IT is put on plain skin.

BTW I didn't believe in primers, until this experience with IT... generally don't notice pores or fine wrinkles when I wear Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation without primer (which stays on much longer than IT Celebration Foundation.)

My skin is youthful, t-zone, age 57, always get compliments on it (especially with Tarte). At night, when don't need spf, or not wearing make up as long, I prefer the IT, with primer, or even Josie Maran's Argan oil underneath. Again, letting it soak into skin 1st, before putting on the IT powder.

However, for dry skin, I would try IT's new, more glowing Illumination foundation. Or Josie Maran' s liquid, color correction foundation. (Haven't tried Mally' s yet.) The older IT Celebration Foundation is too drying, in my opinion. HTH.

P.S. I am still on my first container of IT (from a couple of years ago), as I don't get out much & also choose Tarte on days I am exposed to the sun, or it is more humid.

Someone mentioned the newer orders of IT were adjusted to prevent the film. I have some saved from A/D, unopened. I do like the IT Celebration Illumination better! Has less of a matte finish, definitely a little bit on dewey side. If you're intent on a powder, I would try IT Illumination.

The celebration foundation I tried awhile back did form a film on it making it virtually impossible to get any on a brush. It was NOT because of any oil from my products because I tried it every which way, even on my dry bare skin and the film still developed.

I have other powder foundations, like Josie's, and have never, ever had any develop a film on it like this so I think like CAshopper suggested, the manufacturer maybe pressed it too hard or something occurred during the first batch of the foundations to cause it to develop this film. It sounds like they've corrected the problem though as most that have gotten it since that first batch have not reported any film issues.

Because of this film issue, I cannot comment on the performance since I really did not get to even try it out long enough before it would harden up. I just used it on my neck and chest occasionally and used it as a setting powder but eventually it became so aggravating to try to get the hardened layer (i.e. "film") off that I just threw it away. But again, I believe the company resolved the issue now.

I do on occasion mist my face with Josie's rosy water (and prior to that, a WEN replenishing treatment mist) or some other kind of facial mist and do like the look as it kind of softens the powder look a little. I especially do this in the summer just to cool my face down a bit or in the winter to give a little more moisture to my skin if it is feeling dry and tight. You just have to spray lightly and from a distance and not overdue it or it can make the powder run or cake up.

Yes it does form a film and it's very annoying, the new one has not formed a film yet but I like the older one better.

I have to scrape it with a washed and clean old mascara brush, problem is that then I get all this powder and I have to try really hard not to pick up too much on my brush or my face looks too powdered.

When I'm finished with my stash I will probably not repurchase and look for something else.
