has anyone tried the Herbal Essence cleansing conditioner?

First a small rant - so many people say bad things about WEN, but now it seems like every major brand has jumped on the CC band wagon. Intesting...

I have tried two of the imitators, the L'oreal one (can not stand the over powering fragrance, IMHO it's sickly sweet) and the Sally Bee one (which did not work well for me).

Has anyone tried the Herbal Essence one?

I haven't and won't because they test on animals BUT if they didn't, I would certainly try it. Alot of people are liking it, although they still contain menthol and peppermint oils which I don't really care for. It seems like those ones don't have alot of the nice, nourishing ingredients WEN has though.

I've tried that RENpure and one other one, can't remember the name, and they were absolutely NOTHING like WEN. I haven't tried the others like L'oreal because of animal testing but I haven't head good things about those anyway.

Nope, like HD stated, they are not cruelty free. I tried a few others, hair one and renpure and ick, no thank you. Just a mess.

The consensus appears to be that most people do like at least the initial results (because it is so new) of Herbal Essence Naked CC but don't care for the scent. I will be interested in the reviews after long term use.

I tried it and like it. I didn't think about the cruelty free part, so that is something to think about. It is similar to wen, (which i love), but does lather a bit. It says low lather on it, whereas wen froths with water but doesn't really lather. I get a very good result from it and the big advantage is it is much easier to rinse out than wen because you use so much less. I used it this past tuesday becaue i had to take one of my kitties to the cardiologist for a pretty early appointment and just didnt have the energy to spend the time it takes me to wen and i think the results were good. Now today i had plenty of time so i used wen and the results are perfect. So for me it is sort of a good alternate for busy days that gives a pretty nice result but i won't stop using wen.

It took six years ,for WEN to be on QVC before anyone made any hair loss claims.

This was my first cheat in 3 plus years because I always used Herbal Essence in my teens. The scent is still wonderful but it was an epic fail for my curls. Gave it to DD to try.

There are a LOT of Cleansing Conditioners and Cowashes on the market now. I thought it was due to the Curly Girl Method.

Does it still have that amazing scent? Gosh I used to love that. Hmmmm. Might have to pick up a bottle of this as a first cleanse? What did it do/not do for your curls?

I have never heard of this brand before- cruelty free so that is good! Looks kind of interesting although hard to find in my area. Hm, I will keep this in mind. Thanks for sharing!

My co-worker has the white bottle and I won't try that because I can't take the scent of it. Every time she walks by I can smell it. Its not horrid but there is a definite smell to it, fake perfume-y to me.

She just picked up the pink bottle and that one smells a TON better!! Even if it lingers like the white, the smell is much much more tolerable. For $5 I am going to pick up the pink bottle and try it out. I don't think I will ever give up my Wen though.

Co-workers opinion is that is similar to Wen.

Does anything think with a product like this that we could start to see a price drop in Wen??

We do not have it up here yet, my one sister wants to try it. I doubt it will have any effect on wen prices, it's no different that any other wen dupe out there. They may be cleansing conditioners but if you look at ingredient list and compare wen has so many more natural oils and extracts that none of the dupes have including the new herbal essence. My sister has to wait a bit to test it out, think I will be sticking to my wen though.

I looked at the ingredients last night. No way am I going for it. You have to figure if Wal-mart can sell it at a profit for $4.97 a bottle and Amazon for $6.19 a bottle, you may get a nice result but not over the long haul. What is that, 30 cents an ounce? True, profit could be achieved on WEN for a lower price point, but not that low! The absence of all the natural goodies is what you notice right off the bat. Also, the fact that they have to have two formulas, once for natural hair, one for color treated. The natural 'naked' formula is low lather, not no lather, so it would still be stripping natural hair color. Not worth it to me after all the bad hair years.

I threw mine away too after trying it a couple times before I used Wen. Not every remotely similar to Wen IMO.

There are cowashes in almost every product line.

Also, Sally's has Hair One, which is a Wen knock off. I use it when I'm in between Fig shipments, but I wouldn't switch to it.

Wen has no competition.

Blech - no way. Aside from the animal testing, which I despise, I can't imagine something made for such a low cost can be on par with Wen. I really do subscribe to the theory that you get what pay for - and there are some things I am absolutely willing to pay for! Wen is one of them

NOPE. Curly Girl was just a secret weapon a few curly haired gals knew about. It was the massive exposure and success of WEN on QVC which sent the labs of every major and many small independent lines to the drawing board to come out with a cleansing conditioner, or as some brands are marketing co-wash (so that they aren't confused with WEN).

Remember how mineral makeup was an inside secret few people knew about. After Bare Escentuals' phenomenal success on QVC every brand (drugstore and prestige) came out with their version of mineral makeup. In addition new mineral-based brands were popping up every month for a while. Point being, QVC is a powerful marketing tool for products. The beauty industry is notorious for being copycats, so when someone has success with something different others will follow.

I haven't tried it, but all the other knock-offs I have tried (Loreal, Renpure, Hair One, and SG) don't hold a candle to Wen.
