one thing i forgot to add about using a brush like a kabuki. I seriously would not recommend swirling the brush in the powder. Instead, tap the brush onto the powder once or twice than look at the brush- it will have product on and you can probably cover half your face with that amount, then repeat for the other side.

Josie Maran Matchmaker Powder Foundation

I'm searching for a new foundation. I've been a faithful and satisfied user of BE for many years, however lately I've noticed that my skin has become very dry after using it. After reading some other reviews I see that others are experiencing similar issues with BE. I want to try the JM Matchmaker Foundation, but I'm confused as to which shade to order. I am somewhat fair with cool undertones. I always wore MEDIUM in BE. If you've switched from BE to JM and have my coloring, please comment on what shade you use.

Also, can the foundation be applied with a brush. Any help or suggestions you can provide is appreciated.

I have fair to light skintone (and neutral to pink undertones) but medium in BE would be wayy to dark for me so I am a bit confused about your post saying your are fair but you use medium so I don't really have a suggest on shade for you. I personally wear this in fair but if you can wear medium, I'd say fair would be too light for you.

The foundation is sheer to light coverage (which I like). I apply it either with the sponge and tap it on or I will use my Ecotools kabuki brush and buff a little on.

I was a medium be user for years & encountered the same problems as you. I will have to go through some of my orders (can't remember where I ordered my JM) but I will warn you that you will hit pan very, very quickly with JM matchmaker. I hit pan after 6 applications & at $30+ per compact, it would be too expensive for me to continue. Have you tried Ready yet? I love it!

I always wore BE in Medium.. I just recently switched to JM Foundation Powder and use the Light/Medium (I bought mine at Sephora).. I have applied it with a brush for lighter coverage and also with a sponge for more coverage.. I do not find that it dries out my skin, I enjoy the coverage also.. I will say, IMO, it is a lighter coverage but I like that..

I am enjoying the JM Powder Foundation.. It is more on the expensive side, IMO, but I don't wear makeup everyday only about 3 or 4 times a week..

I have normal to dry in winter & normal to oily in summer but the melasma is real & not going away. When I used the JM powder, I would layer it over the serum foundation because each on their own didn't provide enough coverage for my liking. The combo was perfection though but I went through the powder way too fast. It never looked cakey & kept my skin dewey looking.

I tried BE years ago and was Fairy Light. When Josie first came out with the liquid version of her Matchmaker Foundation I tried the Light/Medium and it looked orange on me so I went with the Fair in the powder version. I think it's probably slightly light on me, but if I buff it in well it looks good. You can use a brush depending on how much coverage you need (I'd recommend a kabuki or something dense where you can buff it in a bit). I do agree with the other poster that you don't get a ton of product. I definitely got more than 6 uses, but I was surprised at how quickly I could see the bottom of the pan. The powder is a bit....soft I guess is the word, so you do want to be careful about not picking up more than you need.

Guess it will be trial & error on which foundation & shade will work best for me, but I'm going to start with Laura Geller's foundation and Josie Maran's Matchmaker.

I appreciate your help.

I've been curious about the powder matchmaker foundation, and I too am Medium in BE most of the year until the colder weather hits and I lose some color, then I'm Fairly Medium (like now). I plan to try it some day, let us know how it works for you! Are you going with Light/Medium?

BTW I get what you mean by being somewhat fair (with cool undertones), because I think BE's Medium is the only Medium that I can wear, everyone else's Medium is too dark and orange! BTW I can wear LG's BnB Fair.
