I would like to know why his products are higher in cost than any other line on the Q? I have been hearing that when a product ingreds start with aqua or water, that after it has evaporated that it is useless? Do you think the cost has something to do with the doctors lifestyle? Hiring a rep that is high cost and can not tell a customer which costly product to use because the caller is on a limited income, Dana told her to buy both, like she herself does. Jill chimed in and told her QVC has a flex pay. How did this help the consumer to make an informed choice? Dana may look tan because she can afford to cruise to those islands for sun and fun. I do think that Dana just looks like a natural beauty, that doesn t need a foundation. Freedom of choice is ours to make, just my thoughts here.

Just a possibility, but I know part of the reason pharmaceuticals are so out-of-this-world-expensive is because of the cost of the research, clinical trials, FDA submissions, etc. And I've heard, but not sure it's accurate, that they have to sit on a pile of cash as a reserve insurance fund in case of lawsuits their insurance carrier won't cover.

So maybe it's something along those lines w/Perricone? I know he does a lot of his own research.

It was not skin care but it took almost 6 years to get the product approved by the FDA. And then finally after it was finally approved we spent many months to get a batch of the product to come out right. We finally had to sell the company to J&J because we were out of product and couldn't make a batch that didn't fail.

The company had to have a boat load of money to run for more than 6 years before we actually made a penny. Who knows how long Dr Perricone worked on his products before he started to sell them.

Cost or not, my dermatologist said it's a waste of money. He gave me a prescription of Retin A, told me to use a broad spectrum SPF 30. I like Neutragena. I use oils almond oil, avocado oil I have tried Josie's but I like the Avocado oil better more moisturizing. He suggested Dove soap bar or another cleanser don't remember which one. Personally I love my Clean and Clear for sensitive skin (used it for years). I'm in my early 40's. No Botox yet, but I never say never! You don't need to spend a lot on sunscreen either! As far as the new OVM, I had to laugh, there are so many ways to use eggs, right out of your frig on your face or on your hair in variety of masks, and you don't need to pay 175.00 to do it! You tube has many videos for do it yourself facials with things like avocado and eggs, etc.

Algenist is very expensive indeed. I bought the face cream and I have about it used up but I am not impressed with it and will not reorder. I found it to be very average. I paid a lot for (and didn't like) Nectifirm as well. I was very, very disappointed with both of those items.

I did, however, order Sub-D on 3 flex pay yesterday and I am very excited to get it. I have used a lot of Perricone over the years and while I too wish it was much cheaper, I absolutely love what it does for my skin, so any chance I have to get my hands on some, I do.

If you are wanting a cream with DMAE, Hyraulonic acid and vitamin c esters at an affordable price, check out Reviva brand. You can find it on Amazon. They have some decent products with these ingredients that I like to use. However, they are not nearly as nice or give me the same results as Perricone. They probably do not have the same concentrations or the exact same deck but they are not bad.

OP other brands with DMAE etc. are available also. Right now, I am using a DMAE throat serum from Makeup Artist's Choice. It's very nice but it's not like Perricone either. I've used everything coming and going including Isomers (don't like) and Skinn (DO like) and a bunch of HSN brands like Prai, Elysee, SSC, et al so I know what I like and I like Perricone (even though it doesn't like my purse, LOL). I use products up that I buy before getting more even if I am not crazy about them. I don't like to waste product or money and sometimes you find some are pretty good if you stick with them. Some of course don't. I've never regretted anything Perricone I've bought.

Sometimes the higher price is worth it. I think Perricone is a quality product made to high standards and that costs a lot. Although truth be told, there probably IS a decent profit margin on it. lol.

Sometimes the higher price is not worth it - at least to me (i.e. Alegenist). But that's up to the individual consumer. Everyone may not agree and that's ok. But for ME personally, Perricone is just better.

My usual mantra is spend a little more on good skincare (though I do like Olay, I will admit) and then go cheapie on makeup. Works for me!

I don't know why Perricone products are so much higher or how they are put together I just know that they work. You really need to use the products longer then a minute to be fair.

I have used his products for almost 5 years. My skin is better in my late 60's then in my 30's. I really don't comment much, however, I felt I needed to this once. I know the products are more costly then drugstore items but the results are worth it . You have to make a commitment to these products otherwise you are wasting money and time. If you cannot make the commitment or spend the money you should say nothing, it is just mean.

My take on this kind of stuff is that it's all about personal/corporate choice. They have the choice to charge whatever the traffic will bear and we as consumers have the choice to buy or not buy. As long as I know upfront what my cost will be, I can choose to buy or walk.

It sounds to me as if OP is feeling left out of the world of the rich and thinks it's someone else's job to make buying products such as Perricone affordable, that someone else should downgrade their lifestyle so she can change hers. I could have misread her, but that's my reading between the lines.

On 1/12/2014 Angeleyes55 said:

...CUT...

I have been listening to Demetri of Skinn Cosmetics speak of how water as the first ingredient is not a good thing at all, also Manwela who is a chemist and makes products Isomers speaks of water not being the choice first Ingredient and why on ShopHQ.
Angeleyes55 - Dimitri's big selling point is that he doesn't use water in his products and he maintains that his products are better than competitors due to that fact. Manuela from Isomers does NOT share his belief about water in skin care formulations at all!
Isomers believes our skin performs best if we use hydrous products, and you will find water listed first in (most) of their ingredient decks. Below is a response from Manuela on the Isomers forum defining the difference between anhydrous (Skinn) and hydrous (Isomers) formulations.

Hi Everyone,
We have received several email questions regarding anhydrous formulations. We hope this information is helpful:

To "hydrate" means to bring water to an area. When the skin is dry, it requires water and skin identical lipids. For cells to be healthy and transport nutrients and eliminate toxins, they also require water. Water is the universal solvent of our cells and body and is what our bodies and cells need to survive.

"Anhydrous" means without water or the absence of water. By definition this type of system cannot hydrate, cannot solve dryness. What it can do is make a wax or oil-like film and prevent water and air from getting out or in. Much like plastic film wrap that is used to keep a sandwich fresh. However unlike a sandwich, our skin is alive and requires water and air to be healthy. Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) is anhydrous and can be used as an occlusive barrier on the skin but it won't soften or remedy dryness in the cells.

What we have found, is that anhydrous formulations provide an "occlusive" barrier which results in an artificial sweating and swelling of the top skin layer giving the appearance of filling in fine lines. This is great for a temporary cosmetic effect and that is why in foundations or eye concealers this type of silicon or anhydrous system is used. In treatment, the story and ingredients need to be different. If you want to solve dryness and support the skin, then a system that works with liquids in a hydrating format should provide better long term and immediate results.

So depending on what you need from your skin this helps determine the system and type of formula.

Manuela
© Isomers.ca
