My best friend's husband had an operation where some of the skin was removed because it was droopy. His insurance paid for it.

Now he is having the other eye done. It is not for cosmetic reasons, but because it is affecting his vision it droops so bad.

I would be afraid the Dr would remove too much skin. I guess you have to trust the Dr. Some say Nancy Pelosi had too much skin removed and that's why she looks like a deer in headlights.

I don't know about that. If it affects your vision perhaps your insurance would pay for it. As stated, his was paid because it affected his vision.

I knew there was something different going on with my face after looking at pictures or not being satisfied after doing my make-up. FINALLY I pin pointed what it is ! Droopy eyelids ! My eyes are drooping at the outer corners and I have "extra" eyelid skin now. Any tricks on how to counter this ? I was thinking less eyeshadow ,maybe ?

If you are not opposed to Botox, you can put a couple of drops under the eyebrows which will give lift to your eyelids. It works wonders.

I know what you are going through. I went on youtube and found some really good videos for this issue. There was one that was really helpful that I recently saw.. I'll go look it up and tell you. There are so many variables as to age, how droopy the eyes are, etc!

Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iJPXDF2Rfs

I don't watch this person, but I put hooded eyes in the search box, saw this, and tried it and liked the results. But, there are a lot of tutorials about this.
Eventually droopping eyelids will start to obstruct your vision and you can have them surgically repaired. medicare pays for this. I am getting this too . You can't get them fixed on insurance until it obstructs your vision to a certain degree.

Back to the Botox, I go to a RN (who has her own medical spa business with a doctor) who does as little as you need or as much as you want and charges $10/unit. So for $40 I can get my brows lifted. Not really much of an investment. I know some that charge a minimum. That didn't work for me.

I am 59 and mine are getting worse by the year. They are uncomfortable and heavy feeling and like you, when I look at pictures it is very obvious.

Had the consultation and testing an my vision 30% blocked which is borderline for the insurance to pay for it. Not ready just yet for surgery.

Not a miracle, but recently I have been using Avon Anew Eye Lift cream. It is a jar with divided sections with a gel for the lid which really helps tighten it up a bit, and they don't feel as heavy and look a little better. There is another cream for the undereye. I use that at night and my favorite eye cream Origins Perfect World white tea eye cream.

Try it and see if you get any results and let us know how it works.

I'm 60. For quite a few years now I've been unable to wear eye shadows or mascara as a result of my fat and droopy eyelids. No point in wearing shadows...you can't even see it on my lids, it just gets completely hidden. No point wearing mascara...I just look like I have a double row of eye brows....more mascara ends up on my skin than my eye lashes!! I've just learned to accept it as 'that's life'.

To the original post:

I am in the same boat! I'm 38 with fair skin and my eyes have begun to droop! I've been using Perricone eyelid serum and it seemed to help a little; however, I just splurged for the NuFace TSV with eye/lip attachments. I've only used it twice- and WOW! There is definitely a noticeable difference! My eyes look lifted. It is $ but so is getting medical treatment for this. It doesn't hurt, and it only takes about 5 minutes on each eye. Highly recommend!

My Product Recommendations

NuFACE Trinity At-Home Microcurrent Facial Toning Device

I know many women that have had it done, I may be next!

True. My husband had this surgery a few years ago. An ophthalmologist will do "field of vision" tests twice -- with the drooping eyelids and then with the extra skin taped up. If the tests show that the drooping lids are impeding your field of vision, the surgery may be considered medically necessary and not just cosmetic, and insurance will likely cover it. It was outpatient surgery with quick recovery afterwards, and my husband looked (and saw!) much better after the procedure.

So for $40 I can get my brows lifted. Not really much of an investment. I know some that charge a minimum. That didn't work for me.

Being charged a minimum didn't work for me. The Botox under the eyebrows does wonders!
