At first I thought she was affecting the accent, but now I wonder if she grew up in a bi-lingual family (one parent British?) where the country's language isn't English.

Personal Information After growing up in the US, I moved to London where I studied Liberal Arts. I then moved to Ireland where I attended the Samuel Beckett Center at Trinity College of Dublin. I stayed in Ireland working in television and theater for 13 years. And that explains the little bit of accent that you hear every now and again on QVC!

I don't understand the I-lived-in-a-foreign-country-so-I-have-an-accent bit. Even here in the US, there are regional accents that are much, much stronger than Ireland or any other English speaking country. Heck, I grew up in Nebr & lived in Dallas for 30 yrs...and I don't have a "twang". It's just silly if you think about it.

The first time I went to the South (North Carolina) when I was thirteen, I picked up the accent without knowing it. I was speaking like a native -- so I was told -- and hadn't even realized I was speaking that way. I recently lived there for over five years, and never picked it up. My parents were from Boston and my mother retained her accent, my father lost all traces of his (and they were older when they moved to Seattle). If anything, I pop out a Boston-sounding word now and then. Accents are interesting -- why do some of us lose ours, others don't?

She forgets from time to time who she was the last time she appeared as a Perricone puppet. Ever notice how difficult it is to keep telling the same lie over and over again with the identical detail as the time before? Ask someone who has been caught in that game, they are probably miserable...or in jail!

I doubt it is fake. What would be the point? I don't use Perricone, but Dana is just doing her job. No need for such harsh comments in my opinion. Edited for spelling.

Tonight a woman asked her for advice on which product to use b/c her income changed each month and, basically, she could not afford both products. Dana adivised her that she had to make this decision on her own and she would not help her chose a product. Other vendors have done this. I think that she was only focused on selling products for Perricone and she showed very little heart for the loyal client who said that she has used these products for a very long time. I know that this has nothing to do with her accent, but I had to vent.

Of course it's not fake. This thread appears every time Perricone has a TSV. Get a grip, people. I'm not criticizing you, Tissyanne; I agree with you.

I hear actors all the time on TV shows with interesting accents that you only catch a tiny glimpse of, occasionally. I look them up on imdb and discover they were born in one place, grew up in another, went to school in a third. Those accents aren't all pervasive when they talk, they just say one random word in an accent that doesn't fit with the rest of the sentence. I think it's charming.

Or when some Canadians say "aboot", DH totally can't hear it but it's very obvious to me. Different ears pick up accents more strongly than others. I don't see what's to complain about it. Aboot it. Whatever

I don't think a cosmetics salesperson should be making financial recommendations, just as they are not allowed to make medical claims...........

I heard this call as I clicked over to QVC during a break in the football game. It struck me that Dana was put on the spot to make a suggestion and Perricone has so many products which when you get down to have the same performance claim... she got stuck on what to say. I'm not blaming the caller for asking, but I have a little empathy for Dana having to address it. Yeah, I know she gets a paycheck to soothe her soul.

BTW: Alan Cumming (Eli Gold on the Good Wife) has a completely different accent on that show than the one he speaks with introducing the episodes of Masterpiece Mystery. I think the Masterpiece accent is the real one.

I was born and raised in Texas - still live here - and when I travel people don't know I'm a Texan. I, too, have never developed the drawl or twang.

If I remember correctly, she mentioned one time that she was partially raised in Ireland and her husband is from Australia (?)
