Product will only be pure for the first application. After that, exposure to air and bacteria will degrade it rendering it useless.

While I also wish that all skin care manufacturers would use airless packaging, those who choose to use jars (and there are many), are convinced by their own testing, that their products are formulated in such a way to maintain their efficacy and integrity IF the end user uses the product as instructed and within the recommended time frame once opened. For example, a 60 day supply of product will maintain its efficacy for approx 60 - 90 days once exposed to air. The jars I receive come with spatulas and I make sure to clean my spatula(s) before and after I use it to remove product from a jar.

As long as skincare companies are convinced that jar packaging does not render its product useless, our cries for a different (better) form of packaging will go unheeded.

Jars are the cheapest method of packaging, period! I think it's beyond tacky especially for the high prices Perricone and others charge...they can well afford to spring for an airless pump.

The only caveat I would give here is the form factor. Neutrogena makes a serum that I like that comes in a tube. Every time I thought the tube was empty, I would cut it open, and there would be at least another 10 days worth of product left in the tube. The same has happened with some Josie Maran tinted moisturizer. I hate waste, and off loading this residual (and substantial amount) of product into little travel/sample jars is a pain.

When these skin care manufacturer's say "but our product lasts until the end of the jar" you know that is baloney. But really, what do we expect them to say....Yeah, you're right I'm just a greedy shmuck but pleeeeease keep buying from me.

Most of the Perricone I use is packaged in a pump bottle or a tube. Except for the moisturizer and I'm not in love with it anyway so am on the lookout for something equal or better -- in a non-jar package!!

However, I have used jars of Perricone for a YEAR, which is probably way past when they should be effective and I still feel like they work for me (I also use the spatulas).

And if it is going to come in a jar, I would rather the packaging not be so wasteful, as I found with Dr. Denese, but that is another issue!

I won't buy skin care in a jar if it has active ingredients. Once opened it loses some or all of its effectiveness.

I don't buy any skin care products that come in a jar. Even if I absolutely loved it I would not get it if it was in a jar and had active ingredients. I do have a tub of Eucerin cream but it doesn't have active ingredients. I have had it forever because I only use it on my feet.
