Just curious...why does WEN use menthol?

Just wondering why all of the wen CC use menthol (excluding kids wen). Is is something that helps clean the hair/scalp? I REALLY need a wen that doesn't have menthol, but the kids scents are appealing to me.

Menthol stimulates the scalp for healthy hair growth.

The kid formulas clean really well. I use them from time to time.

I can't find any credible source to support the idea that menthol promotes hair growth. I do know that it is a strong irritant.

Me, too, as it is a known irritant. It is derived from peppermint, which can also be irritating when applied topically. The cooling, tingling sensation is not necessarily a good thing, but it is obviously used a lot, especially in lip plumpers. I really like my WEN, but no menthol would take it to an even greater level, as I do "feel" the menthol on my scalp.

I think a non-menthol option would be a good idea. Of course, there are a lot of variations that people seem to want and Chaz likely can't make all of them--at least not as a permanent part of the line. Chaz said something during his last Q visit about not intending to have a huge line constantly available, which is why the seasonals which may or may not return was the compromise he chose to make.

It does seem that some formulas have more menthol than others. I think BGT and WWC feel like they have less menthol than the core formulas.
