Is this "fluted" or "scalloped" edges going to be the new design

I wanted the serving & mixing bowls but I really don't like the new fluted edges. Looks like new pieces have them, loved the dinnerware but resisted as I like clean lines & noticed my pasta bowls (older clearance item) chip easy.
