Host Scoop and a Little Trivia Too!

by on ‎06-07-2012 11:08 AM

My name is Claire and I may have the coolest job in the world. I have the pleasure of working with the very talented QVC Host team every day.

It all started in the Summer of 2010 when I was hired as the Intern for the Talent Department. To be honest, I had no idea what I was getting into. Within a week I was booking models, participating in the class that certifies guests to go on air and helping Rick Domeier with a Power Point presentation. My internship flipped my dreams upside down. I was no longer moving to the big city, I had found my Holy Grail dream job right in my backyard.

Fast forward to today. I’m still on the Talent team (oh, and I graduated from college!) but in a different role helping the hosts in social media. You may wonder what that even means, and honestly I’m still trying to figure it out, but I’ll do my best to give you a little glimpse into this exciting, new role.

QVC is a social company! We have a Facebook page, Twitter account, Pinterest and Tumblr. Not to mention, this great QVC Community where hosts, guests and employees get to give you the inside scoop about life at the Q.

Right now, all of the hosts have Facebook and a few are on Twitter and Pinterest as well.  I’m the one who helps them set up the various accounts, brainstorm blog topics and come to the rescue when there is a technical difficulty.

One of my favorite parts of the job is getting to work with the Multi Channel hosts. Recently, Jennifer Coffey completed the first ever Community Live Chat. I was down in the studio while Jennifer and Mari Lynn answered questions live on the Community. Did you get to participate? I think it’s so exciting that we have the ability to chat in real time with our customers. The hosts love getting to chat with you on Facebook and in the blog chats.

The host team is a really interesting group of people. I have the unique opportunity and pleasure of working with them on a daily basis and learning so much about the business from them... Okay I also get a lot of great personal advice as well. From restaurant recommendations to what Wen formula I should try next, I think I’m learning more from them, than they are from me Smiley Happy Their life experiences are some for the books.

In honor of the upcoming host event, I thought we could play a little game. Below are 10 host names and 10 statements. Match the statement with the host.

Leave them in the comments below and I’ll answer in my next blog.

1. Who buys at least two cereal bars every time we go to the cafeteria together, “just in case.” ?

2. Kerstin and __________ went to high school together.

3. Who is currently obsessed with russian pickles (she turned me onto them too, addicting!).

4. This host loves to ski.

5. Who considers herself a “cookbook cook” because she likes to follow recipes, not make things up?

6. ___________ & her hubby just bought their first house.

7. Who loves everything about the Jersey Shore? (the place not the show!)

8. Which host's daughter just graduated from college?

9. Who takes her family on adventures on the weekends?

10. Which host is a dance mom?
