Attention Gilmore Girls fans ...
Kelly Bishop, who played "Emily Gilmore" on Gilmore Girls, is starring in a production of "Steel Magnolias" at the Paper Mill Playhouse here in NJ (which was fantastic, by the way.) DH and I went to the show on Sunday evening and decided to wait by the stage door to see if we could meet her. When she came out, she stopped and talked with us for over 20 minutes! It was like we were old friends! She couldn't have been nicer. It was just the three of us, and we talked about Gilmore Girls, Dirty Dancing (she played Baby's mom), Patrick Swayze's illness, A Chorus Line, where she originated the role of Sheila on Broadway. She was so incredibly kind - she signed our programs and I brought along an insert from Gilmore Girls Season One DVD and the insert from our Dirty Dancing DVD. She looked at the GG insert and actually looked through it, commented on the group photo and how much she loved that show, and signed that and the Dirty Dancing insert, too! She said she really misses GG and would LOVE to do a movie! What a nice and classy lady!

Attention Gilmore Girls fans ...

That is exciting, dapet. I live in NJ too, and have been to the PaperMill a few times 3-4, I think. It's not that close to me.
Anyway, I'm glad she was so nice and friendly. I was a Gilmore Girls fan too, and I always thought she did a great job at playing Emily. Exasperating, and sometimes very funny. She is or was married to someone I used to listen too on the radio many years ago, Lee Leonard, I think is his name. He also had an interview show on TV a few years back.
I think Kelly is a couple of years older than me. I've seen her in something else too....I think it was the movie An Unmarried Woman.
Well, thanks for sharing. I love seeing celebrities in the flesh. It's always fun.

dapet - that is so cool. I'm glad you had that experience. I think she is a really good actress and I'm glad to hear that she was so nice in person. I also miss Gilmore Girls.

Another GG fan. A movie would be great. Love to find out if Rory marries Logan, Jess, even Dean. Lorelie- with Luke or someone else, or no one? Does Paris marry her beau? What about their careers? I'd love to see it all.

I am so glad to hear that she was nice. I loved Gilmore Girls! What part did she play in Steel Magnolias?

Baylie, she played Clairee, the late mayor's wife. She was wonderful!!!!
I'd love to see a movie, too. Apparently if Amy was still writing at the end of the show, she would not have had Lorelei and Chris marry and split in the middle of the season, but would have had them together in the end saying, "it's always been you...we belong together...this is the way it should be..." and have them marry at the end. I'd rather see Lorelei with Luke, though, so I'm glad it ended that way. I want to see what happens to everyone, too!
I miss this show on Tuesday nights, but still watch the reruns at 5pm on ABC Family!!!

dapet That is just wonderful you got to meet Kelly! I loved her as Emily on the GGs. I miss that show terribly. One of my favorites and catch the re-runs alot on ABC Family channel. I also watch the DVDs I have as well.
I would love a movie that ties up the loose ends.

I loved that show, since then the only show I really get into is what not to wear or 10 years younger and also the biggest loser. BUT I miss my Gilmore Girls, I loved that show
