I just had a thyroid cyst drained again yesterday. This was the 3rd time in a year. The doctor said that if it comes up again that he wants to inject ethanol (alcohol) into it hoping that it will dry up. I wasn't ready for the injection yesterday so told him I just wanted it drained and biopsied.
Has anyone had this procedure done, the ethanol injection. Apparently the cyst is drained and then the ethanol is injected, left in for a period of time and then the doctor will suction the ethanol out. He said it was safe and felt it would be the best treatment short of surgery.
Anyone have any success with this procedure?
