I'm finding that healing from a total knee replacement is a long, and up and down process. I had my surgery May 24, and I've been doing very well. But there are "those days" (like today) when it really hurts. I've found that Bufferin (an oldie but a goodie) works the best. Tonight I had to also use ice and it still hurt. I know tomorrow will be better (at least I hope so), but my doctor is absolutely right. It takes up to a year, possibly more, for it to totally heal - the tissue around the joint, the surrounding tissue and the nerves. I've still got a numb area.
But, I'm grateful it's gone so well for me .... it's just "those days" that remind me that it's still in the healing process.
