I have battled with gastritis for 2 years and tried everything. I finally changed from metformin to januvia and my problems are almost gone. I am not waking every 2 hrs to take something
I could feel gas right between my breasts ,and it would sit there like a stone.I couldn't even burp. I had an endoscopy and they diagnosed gastritis, but changing my diet didn't help..Look at the side effects of the meds you take. That might be creating your problems..talk to your pharmacist or your Dr

Diet/lifestyle is the foundational fix.
Fix the diet, change lifestyle...then drugs & medications
causing the issues would be eliminated.
Changing the meds is just changing the symptom
without digging to fix the cause. People are just on
this ‘hampster wheel’ of discomfort. It CAN be better.
Much, much better., if you choose.

@dennylilly, I am so sorry that you are dealing with all of this discomfort. I wish I had some advice to offer, but I don't. I just wish whatever is causing your issues could be resolved. Please feel free to come here and vent anytime. Wishing you an enjoyable trip to Boston. Take care.

That should be the first line of attack (least evasive protocol)
and generally, speaking, the most effective.
I agree with sidsmom that you should be looking at both diet and lifestyle.
You don’t need to wait for tests to start experimenting with your diet and see if certain foods bring on symptoms....then eliminate them (butter, chocolate, caffeine, etc.). Eating in the evening and then lying down in bed could cause issues, or eating too much at one time.
Relaxation tapes, massage, listening to peaceful music.....worth a try.
Definitely have the tests, but I would be tweaking my diet, in the meantime.
To get the thread back on track, @alicedee had some really good ideas
for the OP to begin implements immediately. @dennylilly Good luck!

@dennylilly if your meds are upsetting your digestion, it doesn't matter what you eat. They will continue to irritate your stomach lining. They are known for doing this. I was on metformin for years, before it happened to me
Go to my diabetes thread ,and read the article I posted about metformin. These articles are written by medical specialists ,and not by lay people, trying to sell you something
