Here are 2 quick videos talking about curing constipation. Dairy was the issue. Dr. McDougall recommends a low fat, whole foods, plant based diet. Hope this helps.

You should probably have a colonoscopy/endoscopy if you've never had them. See a gastroenterologist to make sure everything's okay.
Otherwise, eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables and drink a lot of water. Miralax helps too.
Pears also do it for me.

Since my whole digestive system is a mess, constipation was a big part of the problem; nothing helped until it was suggested that I try an anti-depressant which I did. Almost immediately the problem was resolved because my system needed the serotonin.. An acupuncturist or chiropractor can also help with this; none of the above will solve your problem if you don't have enough serotonin in your digestive system. So many doctors are informed about this these days, especially those from places like NIH and the good teaching hospitals.

Be sure you go to a specialist, twokats. I understand exactly what you are going through.
Best of luck!

When I turned 40 I had a big constipation problem that went for years. I would eve bleed down there, Now I am ok. I had to take a stool softener. What I did is i would take stool softener at each meal. That or walmart fiber supplements and it made a huge difference.

There is a tea called Smooth Move that works pretty good. It's caffeine free and herbal and in the grocery stores for under $5. I used it a few times during chemo. You drink it at night and by the a.m. things were moving smoothly.

Try taking 2 or 3 stool softeners every night before bed, works for me!!! Also take a magnesium oxide tablet of at least 250 mg or more everyday.

Thanks for your replies. Don't like to take too many laxitives, your body gets used to it. And then you can't go without them. Had a colonoscopy 4 years ago.Everything was ok.It feels like my colon just doesn't move, its weird. Hate the feeling of bloating and pain from not going. Thanks ladies for listening, much appreciated!!
