About 20 years ago I had the same problem but never knew what it was. I never saw anyone about it. I then had a problem with my wisdom teeth and had to see a specialist to have one removed. When I was there the doctor mentioned my tongue. I told him about the problem. He diagnosed it as " Geographic Tongue Syndrome". I looked it up when I got home and it was very interesting to read about it. I actually did not have it as bad as some do. Foods definitely affect my tongue by splitting sections and sometimes the areas affected change within the day. When I worked in the medical field I worked for two different ENT doctors ( at different times) and they both told me the same thing. There was a solution rinse they gave me the recipe to try. I don't remember what it was. Strawberries, fresh pineapple, foods with vinegar, spaghetti sauce, pickles, and tomatoes are my biggest problems to avoid. I also could get white patches that would magically move around throughout the day on my tongue. It really doesn't bother me as much as I know what to avoid.

Hm interesting, I also have Hashimoto's. Keep reading about B12 deficiency, and i've been taking a supplement but so far it hasn't helped.

My daughter has geographic tongue. Fissures. She can't eat pepperoni or other things because it burns her tongue.

Isn't this the incurable disease a poster frequently talked about?
I had no idea it was so common. I do not recall anyone else discussing it with the poster I am referencing.
