One of the best "home front" World War II movies, on a level with "Since You Went Away".
Greer Garson and Walter Pigeon are a beautiful couple, perfectly cast as the middle class Brits holding their own against the Nazis. The famous scene of them in their home bomb shelter, maintaining calm for their children as bombs explode around them, is classic stiff-upper-lip gallantry at its very best!
You can see why the Brits, after that first dust-up with us a few hundred years ago (ha) have remained our fastest friends and staunchest allies...
Emotional, gripping, inspiring.

Darn it, I wish I had seen your post earlier, I missed the whole thing. I love this movie. I agree that it is one of the best WWII films. And I love Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon together, especially in this.
