I've always been a big fan of Jessica Lange, as an actor, but I think that a more appropriate make up job would have gone a long way toward making her seem more like JC.  

At that point in Joan's life, her make up was more severe and even a bit more on the eyebrows, too.

Yes, there's a scene in "Mommie Dearest" where Joan tells Christina she's broke.  Christina is skeptical, because she later finds evidence of a major shopping spree.

Here is  Joan Crawford's will from 1976.  It shows how little the children received and all the stipulations receive anything at all.   Joan was a very vindictive hateful person and died  a bitter old lady.
