I get what she's saying, but to me her rant is an elitist response to something harmless. Most women in a club or bar don't mind being referred to as girl, I guess you could say hey lady. There's a lot more we as women have to deal with than being offended for being called a girl. Mayim is some sort of scientist or something in her real life, so she should be out there solving bigger problems.

The term certainly can be, and is, often used in a demeaning way - by people of both sexes - without even thinking about it. Not the same as a group of women where someone says something about "us girls" or "girls night out." I would not be upset in the slightest about that. To me, that sort of thing is taking it too far and finding offense where none was even dreamed of.
One has to use common sense in regarding the who and the why, and the when. I do take her point, but she's far from the first woman to express it, nor will she be the last.
