Question about Makowsky handbag?

I am normally a Brahmin and Coach girl but I wanted a rose gold handbag. I order A224697 Makowsky in rose gold and I have received it. It is a beautiful color, the leather is gorgeous and very very soft and the size of the bag is perfect for me. All in all, I love the purse. My question is I am reading alot that the colors fade or stain on these bags and it does have a tag on it that states it can do that, but, I would like to know if anyone has ever put a leather treatment over this brand or a leather wax on this as I do treat all of my brahmin bags. Does anyone know if it will hurt my bag to do this in order to try and preserve the color and to potentially keep from staining. Any answers will be appreciated.
