I have a recipe, but it says to just add the oats to the batter. I'm wondering if they need to be soaked in milk or something first? I have used oats in a muffin recipe..but that required soaking them in buttermilk first. So what's your thoughts on the cookies...just dump in batter??
Nope. Just dump them in.

If you soaked them, they would be too mushy for cookies. I just follow the recipe on the Quaker box.

Ditto on just dump them in.

You are overthinking this - just dump them in and stir.

It's always good to ask, if you aren't sure.
It's one thing if you are using a recipe from a good source. But so many recipes on Pinterest lack details, so it's best to check before you waste money and time making a mistake.

After you bake your cookies; if you like them, please post your recipe! Have been looking for a good oatmeal raisin cookie for awhile. Does your recipe require the raisins to be re-hydrated before using them?

I use that recipe as well - I like to substitute dried cranberries for the raisins.
