Of course we eat them like snacks - but I have a lot.
Do you have any good strawberry recipes to share?
Thank you.

Strawberry cake patties
Sugar - a lot
Cut up strawberries & remove the green hat/hood.
Place cut up strawberries in a plastic bowl.
Pour a lot of sugar on top. Stir carefully. Sprinkle more sugar on top.

Next day, scoop strawberries on top of the strawberry cake patties.

I don't eat ice cream anymore, so for a treat I cut up strawberries, bananas, add blueberries (or rasberries) and spray some low fat Redi Whip on top. Then I put crushed walnuts on top. It's sort of like an ice cream sundae, minus the fat and sugar of ice cream.
You can substitute any fruit, but those are my favs.

When i was growing up, my grandmother, mom and me, made strawberry jam. This was a major project after picking the ripiest, juiciest berries.
Another idea is to freeze them. The way they froze them was similar to making the jam (adding the sugar, etc.) but instead of putting into jars, they would freeze the mixture in little containers in the freezer and later use as a topping for ice cream, etc.
Many good summertime memories associated with strawberries

When my children were young and I lived in So Cal and could buy strawberries out of the fields they used to dip strawberries in sour cream and then brown sugar to eat them.
I also like to add a drizzle of very good quality balsamic vinegar and some freshly ground black pepper to sliced strawberries and serve over vanilla ice cream. Yum!

I slice them and add a little bit of sugar and lemon juice and cook them down. Then I use them over ice cream, angel food cake, or the Vanilla Cake boxed mix from Trader Joe's, which is VERY good and easy to make.

My mother used to do just about the same thing by simply sprinkling sliced strawberries with some sugar and letting them "marinate"......they turned into a sauce without cooking. I'll bet the lemon juice in your method adds something good, though.

Very basic, but I like to macerate them and serve over vanilla bean ice cream. Vanilla bean is the very best of the vanillas.
