Re: Looking for some help. Wait til you hear this one...

@Faerie Moon, I don't always follow recipes: I put in what I like! I wouldn't make artichoke spinach dip without it-or garlic!

I am also a mushroom addict: I would salute a whole lot of them, and add to the dip.

How about Emeril's Essence seasoning recipe.  She'll receive all the spices to make it (onion powder is one of them).  Reminds me I need to make a new batch Smiley Happy

Here is a mixture for a rub that could have multiple applications.  I took it from a Mario Batali recipe for Shrimp and Grits.  "Just whistle" if you would like the whole recipe.

Spice Rub aka Cajun Seasoning
1 Tablespoon Paprika
1 Tablespoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon Cayenne Pepper
1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano
1 Tablespoon Dried Thyme

Edited to amend recipe name

What a pain, I use that spice very rarely. I would pass on cooking a dish and gift her the biggest jar of onion powder that I could find in addition to a lovely gift of course. Which is why I was going to the shower anyway.

What about a salad dressing??

You would want the flavor of onion but not the actual onions.

@Dominosmom  LOL!  Fortunately, I don't have to provide the actual dish, just the recipe.  I should have made that clearer.

Thank you for the good ideas.  Those spice rubs are a great idea, and so is the salad dressing.  I'm pretty sure ranch dressing has onion powder in it.

I do not cook with onions at all as I cannot tolerate them so I would just include a card that says go out to eat if you want onions!!!

She sounds like she cooks I always add onion powder( spice) to stews. Use a crockpot and the spices add veggies and meat in the liguid, Yum!
