When I was growing up in Phila, one of the local bakeries sold: George Washington cake squares. A nickel bought you a square of a spice cake with shiney chocolate fudge icing. We found a bakery that sold it this weekend! It was made with a piecrust base. My sister remembers the piecrust base. Knowing me, I pulled it off and tossed it.
Anyone have a recipe? I think this also has currants/or raisins in it. It is a sheet cake.
Any ideas?
Maureen
