Dainty Sugar Cookies....always a crowd pleaser

Dainty Sugar Cookies

1 C. butter

1 C. shortening

1 C. powdered sugar

1 C. white sugar

2 t. vanilla

4 1/2 C. flour

1 t. cream of tartar

1 t. baking soda

Mix well. Roll into small balls. Place on cookie sheet (I used parchment paper). Flatten with a glass (bottom side) that has been dipped in white sugar (one dip for each cookie) Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly browned. I had to bake them between 12- 15 min.

Also be sure to mix well from the bottom of the bowl too. I didn't and the last batch was very soft and spread too much.

Thank you for posting your recipe.  I printed it.  I love a good rich crispy cookie that I can dunk in my coffee.  I guess I walk off the beaten path.  Everyone else here likes the soft, gooey treats.

Any recipe with that much fat + powdered sugar is going to make a rich, "short", buttery cookie.  I bet they're yummy.

Thank you. I love a good sugar cookie.  Heart

I have an old, basic sugar cookie recipe from my mom using Crisco, & it makes a WONDERFUL cookie. I can't wait to try these!
