Apple Pie Moonshine is probably the most popular and sought after type of bootleg whiskey ever made, and for good reason - it's delicious. We've already posted procedures for making a basic mash and even instructions on making peach moonshine. Here is our favorite (high octane) apple pie moonshine recipe:
1 gallon of 120 proof, pure corn whiskey moonshine (everclear could be used as a substitute - but that ain't moonshine!)
1 bottle of pure apple concentrate (enough to flavor a gallon)
4 cinnamon sticks
1 cup brown sugar
Directions (assuming that your shine is stored in quart jars):
First, split the apple concentrate between the 4 jars. Be careful not to overflow. You may need to dump some whiskey into your gas tank (belly) to make room for the concentrate. Next add, a cinnamon stick and a quarter cup of brown sugar to each jar. Finally, close it back up, swirl until the sugar dissolves, and let it sit for for as long as you are able before drinking. Of course, you're going to want to drink it right away, but you need to give the cinnamon time to impart its flavor to the rest of the contents. If you do it this way, there is no boiling required. In fact, we'd definitely advise against boiling, due to the fact that alcohol is flammable at this proof.
Beware, this recipe is high proof. A lot of recipes call for adding a gallon apple this and a gallon of apple that, but by the time you're done adding all that liquid, you've dropped your proof down into the baby formula range. Pure apple concentrate provides apple flavor without compromising proof. This stuff sneaks up on you - and then it punches you in the face! But it's oh, so good.
As an alternate, hot apple pie moonshine could be made using the regular recipe as a base. Of course, as the name implies, it is served warmed and should also be a lower proof so it can be sipped on. Add one of these quart jars to a gallon of apple cider, toss in another cinnamon stick, and add more sugar to taste. This hot apple pie moonshine concoction can be heated, as it's a lower proof. Warm it up over a fire or on a stove-top and then drink up.
