Re: Mailboxes in rural areas question

We are in a rural community but live in a subdivision.  Here, all the mailboxes are on one side of the street.  For us, it's on our property. For the neighbor directly across the street, he box is a few feet down from ours.

May I ask what do you do with packages to large for your mailbox?

Here it depends on the mood of the carrier..Sometimes the bring it to the garage door.Sometimes they leave a slip in the box to go pick it up at the PO.

If the driveway has a dusting of  snow or more..they leave a slip in the mailbox to go pick it up.

On the county road, they are all on the right side, so some people have to walk across the road. In my development, the are at the end of each driveway because it isn't a through road.

Same with me. There's a long road from our house to the mailbox and it was destroyed and/or vandalized 3 times before I had to pay for a PO box--Ugh!
