Just saw this on Facebook.  Story to run on Inside Edition tonight on the ABC  channel.  Supposed to have documentation.   This I've got to see!    If this is true, how would you like to be sitting next to her on the flight??

I suspect this is a matter of someone craving attention.   Nothing that can't be housebroken should be brought into the passenger cabin of a plane.   Turkeys are dumb,  dirty birds and belong in the barnyard.   The airlines need to give a big "no"  to this idea.

I don't know whether any of you have seen the PBS special about the man who raised wild turkeys from eggs, but the relationship he developed with many of them is heartwarming and close, especially with the females. 

Learning about animals is more fun than laughing at them.

In an enclosed, essentially trapped environment for a group of passengers, it is no longer just about "you" anymore. If someone is that debilitated when it comes to flying, find an alternative transport. I had to sit on a plane next to a woman with a large parrot in a cage held on her lap. This bird was freaked out. As a result, the smell, noise, and mess was all within inches of my ears and nose. Half way through the flight the grim reaper was looking like a viable date.

The picture posted on Inside Edition promo showed the turkey sitting on the owner's lap.   No cage was seen and the space between the rows of seats left little if any space for any passenger sitting next to this person room to get in or out.

It was a sweet story and I would have sat by her without hesitation.  Sweet turkey!  (I'm an animal lover).

I did watch the story.   The turkey "Easter" came into the terminal in a mesh type carrier on a cart.   When she got to Security she came out of the carrier and walked through security check.   Then she was in the carrier until they boarded the plane.  She walked into the plane and went to the economy class seat.  She sat on her owners lap for the two hour flight.   The owner was making the trip to San Francisco to spread the ashes of her husband who died three months ago. Easter was the emotional support.  Upon arrival Easter was escorted out of the terminal in a wheelchair.    No word of air turbulence or any problems.   No mention of special bathing before flights or special requirements compared to therapy dogs that must be groomed and.bathed before a visit to nursing home or hospital.

Here's the thing, yes airlines are supposed to ask for documentation when a passenger brings a service/comfort animal on a plane.

But the reason that they don't ask, is because they don't want to offend the passenger. Besides, one can buy fake documents on line.

Think someone claiming a turkey as a comfort animal is unusual, one could claim a boa constrictor as a comfort animal.

One day, somebody will bring their "comfort dog" a.k.a their pet, and it'll take a dump or lift a leg mid fight, or bite someone, before they'll crack down on the fakers.
