Re: Asking for prayers for sick dog.

It's always heart-wrenching when a pet is very ill. I will say a payer for you also. I was absolutely crushed when I had to let my 13 y/o Pomeranian go. I had made the decision as long as she was eating, drinking and wasn't in pain I would make her as comfortable as I could. I didn't want to let her go and I battled to make the decision and whether I was doing it for her or for me. One day I just knew it was time and after it was over, I couldn't belive the unspeakable sadness, I knew I did it for her. My 20 daughter grew up with Julia but she was the one who talked me into getting another dog within months of losing Julia. Cooper, our rescue dog, is now my profile photo. I still miss Julia, but I know now I have much more love to give and to receive.

Re: Asking for prayers for sick dog.

mominohio, my thoughts are with you.  Please post an update about your little sweetie, Grady, when you know something.  We always imagine a worse case scenario when our critters don't eat.  It could be something, though, that is very "fixable" and something that you hadn't even thought of.  Take care of yourself!

Re: Asking for prayers for sick dog.

Getting ready to head to the vet's office to spend a little time with Grady.

We have decided to let them anesthetize him and do a good look at the oral cavity and the larynx to help see why he might not be willing to drink or eat. They say he is perky otherwise, and we want to spend some time with him before he goes under. They will be doing an EKG first. This is all planned for late this afternoon.

Thanks again to everyone for the uplifting. It helps so much.

Prayers said!  Pet lovers on this board will have you and your sweet Grady prayed up and good thoughts sent. I had to let one of my cats go last Monday...he was 12.I just tried to consider quality of life and Giles was not having a happy time being a cat anymore. I hope you will soon have some answers and are able  make the decision that is best for Grady. I will continue prayers that you will find answers and peace soon.

Re: Asking for prayers for sick dog.

Oh my, do I feel so badly for you and Grady.

I have walked this path so many times.  I have talked about this on the thread for little Jade, so I will spare you all.  I KNOW what you are going through.  You are doing the best you can.  Hopefully, this is a problem that can be resolved.

I do know how much you love your furbaby.  Do not feel guilty, however, about anxiety re the high cost of vet care.  In a few cases in the past, we have spent mucho $ at our vets, desperately trying to take care of furbabies.  I don't resent the money spent, but it has been a factor in us deciding to have one furbaby at a time.  We are retired, and so love our newest kitty, Lily, for the past two years.  She is young now and in perfect health, but as two old-timers ourselves, we know what comes.

So, you do what you can for Grady, within reason.  I will pray for you and Grady.

Re: Asking for prayers for sick dog.

Thank you for your kind words. I don't know what else to do but ask for prayers. My baby had her lymph nodes very swollen, and they took 5 aspirations before they finally got what they needed to send off to College Station Texas for a specialist to look at this, and her cancer is in her thyroid, and lymph nodes, and they said that she could have surgery, and then chemo, but after going through a teeth cleaning, under anesthesia,  they had to quickly bring her out from under, because her blood pressure was dropping really fast. She woke up, and I brought her home. Then came all of the tests. She has had one seizure, right after having one of those aspirations.  So I made the awful decision to not do surgery or chemo because I know that would kill her on the table. I won't let my baby be a guinea pig.

I really do not know how I am going to face life without her. She sleeps with me, and won't let me out of her sight ever. Now, I won't even leave this house because I can't let her get upset.  I will stay by her side until the time comes, to make the decision to let her go. She still eats right now.....so I might have just a little time with her, and that time is being spent doing what she wants to do......thank you for prayers. I need all that I can get. I do believe in prayers. I will pray for all of you on this pet forum that are going through the very same thing I am going through. Good luck and God Bless to you all.
