Wool, acrylic and maybe the "4% other" fibers in this coat make it soft and warm, but they are also know to pill. I love the fit, warmth, soft feel and weight of this coat enough to shave the pills as need. 

Totally understand those who have returned because of this issue. I think, based on where the pilling has occurred, that my seat belt rubbing against the coat has been the main culprit.
