Those of you who pop their own popcorn

I'll occasionally make popcorn on the stove, using butter flavored oil. However, someone I know insists that the only way to make good popcorn is to use coconut oil. I've never even seen that in the store. So, I'm asking for advice on how you make your popcorn.

I have a SS Back to Basics popper and use clarified butter and bacon grease. I then sprinkle it with chipotle salt.

I pop Trader Joe's organic kernels in microwave popper, top with olive oil and sea salt, shake well {#emotions_dlg.wub}

That sounds good.

Also you can get coconut oil at health food stores like whole foods, wild oats etc...

I heat coconut oil in a pan. Then I add organic popcorn and cook on medium until all kernels pop. Love it!

I am pretty sure Trader Joe's carries coconut oil.

I pop in saucepan on the stove using canola oil. Melt some Kerrygold butter to drizzle and sprinkle with fennel salt.

Re: Those of you who pop their own popcorn

I can personally suggest pure coconut oil AuntG.

That is what I use to pop my own popcorn kernels in my stovetop Whirlypop stove top popcorn machine.

Amazon.com also has it and you can use pure coconut oil for many other things too, as far as bath time, apply to damp skin and towel off, and removing facial make up.

Also as a facial and nail moisturizer.

Cooking with it is wonderful and very healthy too.

In a heavy saucepan, on the stove, sesame oil.

I use Bob's Redmill popcorn.

I pop my kernels in olive oil and put garlic salt on my popcorn. I never thought of using coconut oil for popcorn. I will pick some up next time I'm at Trader Joe's.
